The Media Coverage of Malheur vs. Standing Rock

The ranchers were steadily in the news earlier this year while the Sioux of North Dakota, not so much.  Do you wonder why that is?  Obviously there is big government and big money involved, but my query led to the media.  Why would the media give practically round the clock coverage to a group of "cowboys" staying in an empty wildlife center miles from any town, while including daunting adjectives; yet Native Americans have been camping for months with their families and others joining them, only to receive very scant coverage, at best?  The one difference that I should mention is:  The Standing Rock Protest began on private land, while Malheur is federally owned.  Federal used to mean "of the people . . ."

To cause division is the difference and division of the people is the goal.  An accusation of racism has been attempted, but there are just too many people in this country who have Native ancestry or are married to someone who does.  Who can be racist against Native Americans without having a family feud on their hands?  Besides, it's politically correct and rather trendy to have Native ancestry, so this issue just won't fit in the racism box.  I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard a blue eyed blond share that their great grandma was an Indian princess.

Big Oil is so greedy and invasive to so many on both sides of the aisle, Bernie and Trump supporters can find a mutual ground against Big Oil.  No one is really talking about the fact that the possibility of contaminating the longest river in the country is at stake with this pipeline.  Can you imagine an oil spill in the longest river of the country?  Is that a potential crisis the government won't let go to waste . . . ?  Now that Bayer and Monsanto are discussing a merger, we don't need Big Oil and Big Gov't in charge of the water.   The Protectors at Standing Rock are just not a divisive issue for the media to use to manipulate the masses.

The ranchers, however; are another matter.  Besides the fact, their protest was spontaneous and poorly planned, it divided the conservatives.  Some conservatives determined the ranchers were at fault and belong in jail, while others see the BLM as today's American "brown shirts."  The potential for conservative division is what gave the ranchers more media coverage.  I watched a couple of Wild Bill's videos as he vacillate across both ends of the spectrum, for his 15 minutes of fame on the subject; but his last video that I viewed on the subject, lost him more than one subscriber.  Dividing over the land just seemed to lay the foundation for the further division of the conservatives through this very unusual presidential campaign.

The liberal side of the country seemed pretty much in agreement and openly hostile toward the ranchers.  I was unfriended by a few on social media over the issue, but I don't really consider that relevant.  The "friends" I've lost over various religious and political issues will be remembered when the excrement hits the oscillating device.  Those of us who have come to unity in our understanding are cherished.  I've learned a great deal from a great many people, and been able to share, as well.

The division is being spread and fed, like gasoline on a wildfire.  Just as Standing Rock was gaining a bit of mainstream media coverage, the racial rioting began again, and the coverage has been wide spread.  As a journalist, I do try to cover the lesser known stories and issues, but I am obviously biased in my articles . . . all of them.  I'm not going to describe my view or writing as "fair and balanced" as Fox News has completely redefined the meaning of both of those terms.

There are some of us who are simply trying to let the Other 1% know they are few in number, but they are not alone.

Media Filter and Programming

This is not for a moment, to suggest bad things are not happening in other places, but rather to raise the question, "What if the violence we are seeing is the exception, rather than the rule?"  We know our news is filtered here in the land of the free, so it would only make sense that our news sources determine what we view from other countries, as well.  We full well know much of the Middle East is actually quite luxurious, yet we are shown the war torn headlines.  We also know Israel is under constant threat of attack by Palestinians, yet when Israel responds, she is portrayed as the aggressor.  I'm certainly not suggesting that war torn regions are rosy, not at all; but I am saying we simply do not know the details.  Someone in another country who saw headlines from Ferguson, MO two years ago, might envision the entire country to looked like that.

The point of this blog is two fold.  First, the American pundits, who by the way, are only well known because of the American media; pound the programming that American media cannot be trusted.  So, those most vocal against the media, are using said media to propagate distrust and hate.  Second to raise the question; in the realization that media is clearly filtering our national information, what gives credence to the international reports?  And what are other nations seeing from our country?  Is our media filtering what the world sees, or are other nation's filtering what their people see?  None of us can sit in one place and presume to know what information is traveling the globe.

Am I eluding to a vast conspiracy theory?  Hardly!  It's not a theory, and my guess is, the power calling the shots is not much of a conspiracy, but rather simply, one of the powers prophesied in the book of Daniel.  I'm guessing those who have sold their souls believe they are all a part of it, but . . . Have we really given any consideration to our level of distrust regarding the information sources that we continue to listen to, even though we say they can't be trusted?  I realized today, as I sat at my table in tears . . . There are not many people I actually trust at all.  I'm not distrusting, per se, just aware that everyone shares information from their own perspective, and very few share my perspective on some very core issues in my life.  I'm also well aware that others undoubtedly feel the same toward me on some level.  We simply cannot take life at face value any more.  We don't have to be cynical and distrusting to realize our society is polarized, our politics is choreographed, and Messiah said our enemy would be of our own household.  Trust does not abound!  If our enemy would be of our own household, that leaves little hope of getting the straight scoop from anyone making a living at keeping the pot stirred and the ratings high.

Religion has also become a focal point of media and the programming is obviously intentional and  atrociously biased.  The attempt to devalue spiritual beliefs, even vilifying those who would stand by their values is gaining momentum in the media.  When it comes to spiritual matters, I'm called to proclaim without compromise, so if I lose a google ad or social media "friend," I accept that as part of the job.  As for matters of emotion and intelligence, that can cover a great deal of ground, and as it turns out that ground can be filled with landmines, especially when it comes to religious politics.  Perhaps, the lack of logic in our political system while commingling religion, is the reason any discussion can become so emotionally volatile.  Religion is often more emotional or political than spiritual.

Considering the power of filtering and programming, while witnessing the obvious results in a culture that considers itself intellectually elite and insightful with open disregard of media; raises the question as to how each of us decides what information we choose to believe.  As far as I am concerned, the only thing I can believe with full trust and no doubt is Scripture and The One Who inspired it.  When it comes to everything and everyone else, there is room for doubt, especially when there is an agenda . . .

With the treatment of the ranchers in Oregon, the blatant programming and influence became so obvious, I was sickened.  The adjectives used by mainstream media were intentionally biased and derogatory.  The fact that ranchers are held with no bond, no trial, and their jail is called prison should be alarming, but in this society of programmed viewers, it appears to have gone by most, virtually unnoticed.  The fact that one of the men being held is an alternative news journalist should cause alarm for anyone who believes in the First Amendment, but most are more concerned about the "mock election" already proven to be decided by someone other than "we the people."

As I read the headlines and watch the reactions and comments, I can't help but wonder what, and how much of our craziness is being shown to the rest of the world.  In what context is our news being reported to foreign countries?  Do other nations know our federal government is doing a huge land grab and holding the citizens captive?  America has the largest percentage of incarcerated citizens in the world.  Is it just a matter of time until another country decides America needs to be "liberated?"

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  words of Messiah

Immigration . . . A Means to an End?

With the recent stir regarding refugees into America, I can't help but wonder just how intently the citizens are being manipulated.  Without a doubt, mainstream media is an arm of power and control that is used to define and redefine "reality."  I'm truly shocked at the extremism of the political divisiveness on seemingly the same issue, and that is immigration.  Like most Americans, I have an opinion on the subject.  I'm not really weighing in on what we should do here, but rather sharing a perspective of what has occurred in this nation through "immigration."

The first immigrants were not called immigrants, they were called pilgrims, puritans, and pioneers.  Those "immigrants" drastically changed this country.  Is there any American alive today that cannot see how the culture changed through history?  I was going to be a bit brandishing in my next statement, but there's no need.  Most Americans at this point, truly do have their minds made up along party lines.  I find it fascinating as the "conservatives" post their anti-immigration comments, blogs, and memes, in regard to the current immigration situation; while apparently truly believing the European settlers had every right to come and take this land from the Native Americans.  Some even proudly proclaim it was the will of our Creator . . .

For those who are using the adjective "illegal," that is not necessarily the case with many.  Although for many, the move to the US isn't via Ellis Island, money exchanges hands paperwork is completed, and it somehow takes place.  There is entirely too much monitoring and tracking of the legal citizens, as well as reported numbers in this country, for anyone to believe our government does not have an accurate headcount.

The Obama loyalists, on the other hand apparently do not believe history can repeat itself.  Many refer to the pilgrims, puritans, and pioneers, now as invaders.  Liberal blogs, articles, and memes address the genocide of the Native Americans at the hands of what they call "invaders," yet they applaud the current influx of immigrants, and judge those who are vocal in their objections.

Folks, the division has been created . . . and both sides actually share a great deal of similarity, except they are so politically divided by label, they don't realize it.  The conservatives know the culture will be changed to accommodate the current wave of immigrants.  Actually the conservatives know the original immigrants brought change, as well, but they believe that change was good.  Many conservatives believe the Native Americans actually needed the European ways . . .  The same situation that we are facing now, did come about through the 1600s.  Folks were leaving Europe for new and better opportunities, but wanted to bring their old ways with them.  Sound familiar?

The Obama loyalists and liberal leaning folks also must know the culture will be changed, but they seem to believe at this time, they won't personally be affected.  The liberal stand seems almost vindictive toward our culture.  They can see what happened with the Native Americans and appear to be welcoming that, again.  They know immigrants change the culture and the sovereignty of the social standard.  American history definitely proves, the immigrants changed the culture and the language.  I don't understand why this would be so welcomed, especially since most of the immigrants are a lot more zealous in their religious beliefs than any Christian denomination.  These immigrants are as zealous in their beliefs as atheists are in theirs.

For some time now, I've understood that the Roman Empire was never disestablished, but rather mixed, mingled, and spread around the globe.  It's been obvious, since the 80s, the powers in Washington were not really so divided by party lines, but have managed to divide the people through party lines.

The quote "Divide and Conquer" is attributed to Roman Emperor, Julius Caesar.  It is impossible of course to say for certain, but Julius Caesar has been attributed the quote "Divide et impera" which is latin for "Divide and Conquer".

We are on the precipice of a political chasm that will not be spanned, and immigration is the manufactured divisive issue. This could ultimately lead to each state taking their "impotent stand" against the federal government regarding the immigration of Syrian "refugees."  Of course, the federal government can override the states.  Look what the Supreme Court did to redefine marriage IN EVERY STATE, and Congress never did pass a law . . . but somehow "same sex marriage" has become the law of the land.  Yet, I digress . . .

If each state takes it's stand and calls in it's Guard Unit, we have Martial Law . . . Then for each state to protect it's state rights, we'll end up with check points at the state line.  I have a feeling, I'm watching a few go into place now . . .  What troubles this citizen the most, is the idea that the people are being manipulated to actually ask for and implement Martial Law to protect their state from forced immigration of questionable refugees.

Basically, whether it is immigrants who refuse to assimilate or state guard to prevent their entry, the culture will be forever changed.  We might also keep in mind, since we are still dealing with a Romanesque government, Paul met death in Rome by the same method that is used by Islamic jihadists today.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

The Quest for Truth

Who killed JFK?  Fifty-two years later, I must still admit, I couldn't prove my suspicions beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law, but I have discovered and can prove dishonest governing is nothing new, and media cover-up, is far from recent history.

According to wikipedia.  The first radio news program was broadcast August 31, 1920 by station 8MK in DetroitMichigan, which survives today as all-news format station WWJ under ownership of the CBS network. The first college radio station began broadcasting on October 14, 1920 from Union College, Schenectady, New York under the personal call letters of Wendell King, an African-American student at the school.[39]

By 1932 the evidence of media influence in the American politics was already obvious.  With the backdrop of the Great Depression, FDR became the President of the United States on the promise of economic recovery with his New Deal.  The New Deal ultimately proved to discard the gold standard and implement social security.  Also through this time, the condition of President Roosevelt's health was closely guarded.  That is not to say he kept his paralysis a secret, but the secret service men were known to grab cameras and rip out film, press passes not withstanding.  The images of FDR definitely downplayed his disability, and now as digital history is being explained, the press simply had more important things to cover than the health of the US President . . .

I guess my point for including the leadership and press from the 30's, it appears, historically speaking, once news went beyond the written word, appearance and influence became entwined with journalism.  Whether FDR's handicap was hidden or downplayed, it was not considered to be information for the general population.  Whether the media was kept from covering or covering up . . . again, we now have digital history to tell us what we are to believe.  The 1970 World Book entry of Franklin Delano Roosevelt dedicated all of about 4 paragraphs to the polio, in the lengthy entry covering a number of pages.  In his campaigning, he used braces and a cane.  There's no indication that he hid the fact he'd had polio, but he did attempt to walk or stand in most of his public appearances.  The wheelchair was relegated to the private background, behind the scenes of speeches and photo ops.

Radio and newspapers were the only source of news, and radio was relatively new.  The media, even back then established what would be the political information for the general population.  The press secretaries and the secret service determined the photos that would appear.  My point is certainly not to disrespect President Roosevelt nor even infer that a disability should be held against him or anyone, but rather to demonstrate the power of the government and the media to contain and filter what the people can know.  FDR was elected 21 years before the assassination of JFK.  This control of the media, or media control has been going on a very long time!

I just can't help but wondering.  Are we free, because "they" tell us we're free?  Are we only kidding ourselves to think we are informed?  Will the Warren Commission Report stand throughout time, as a tribute to our gullibility?  How many lies have "they" told us?  How many lies have we chosen to believe?

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth . . . that they should believe a lie:  From a New Testament letter to an early democracy.

Divided for the Conquering . . .

By now, most of us have realized, having a black president did not relax racial tension.  On the contrary, the tension seems to be heightened, while our President and First Lady continue to draw attention to racial conflict.  Undoubtedly, there are white racists in this country, but there are also black race baiters.  Meanwhile young people of all races are watching, believing the programming they are being fed from the side in which they are standing.  For whatever reason, tolerance calls us to hate bigots while baiters are given a free pass.  This country is, once again, racially divided.  Ferguson, MO and Baltimore, MD appear to have stepped back in time, and now college campuses offer "ethnic safe spaces."  The author of the article linked makes no bones about the fact, color speaks louder than freedom of the press.

Religious division is really gaining ground, even amongst those who claim the same basic beliefs.  Every week, I find at least two articles addressing the exodus from the church.  Then there are the various factions of the latest Hebraic movement that really seem rather denominational in their grouping and discussion.  The anti-religious seem to be able to unite in their anti-theism and are sadly gaining numbers and power over the public square.  The division is quite real, and the aggression against those with different beliefs is gaining momentum.  While the evangelicals tend to be divided Sunday morning, they are politically united at the polls.

Law enforcement is becoming quite militarized and while I do believe we still have some good cops, I also know there are some ruthless bad ones.  The police brutality has caused much division racially, as well as a general tone of "them vs. us" for a number of years, and now the biker situation in Texas has raised even more skepticism and distrust.  The truth is, when there is a bad guy breaking and entering, 911 is the link to our beloved law enforcement that is there to protect and serve.  On the other hand, when cruising down the highway and we see the lights on top of the car, the "them vs. us" is apparent with our own adrenaline charge and memory of every brutality video on the net.

There has been a generation gap since the dawn of creation, and along with that, the different standard of morality.  A decline in standards is a rapid drop.  Adam and Eve with their forbidden fruit, to the next generation committing murder speaks of the rapid decline of civility in this world.  The generational blame that has occurred in this country, I find to be quite, stale; for lack of a better word.  We all know the baby boomers economically and morally destroyed America and are destroying what's left . . .  Although the blame rolls off my shoulders like water off a duck's back, I will admit the boomers, as a whole sold out and haven't done much to improve the situation.  The generational division has always been, but the blame, well maybe . . . much of the church still teaches everyone is paying for past generational sins all the way back to the Garden.  Perhaps we lack the civility to not let a different perspective divide us; but blaming each other will absolutely bring division.

The Supreme Court is about to serve up a whopping dish of division with the same sex marriage decision coming in June.  There is NO way this will not bring division.  If they render a decision against same sex marriage, the gay agenda will explode.  If the decision is in favor of same sex marriage, the Supreme Court has exalted itself above Scripture, which will result in calamity of Biblical proportion.  This division will be the ultimate LOSE/LOSE for our society.  LGBT has made no bones about it. They are aggressive and will be relentless.  In the 2013 decision regarding DOMA, as the LGBT representatives stood on the steps in Washington a spokesperson for the group stated, "this is not enough."  From what I can see, the agenda wants our children, our businesses, our money, and our submission, and I don't know if that will be enough!

Thanks to mainstream media, every small glitch, and every misunderstanding can now be exaggerated internationally and blown completely out of proportion, while lacking context and be quoted as truth, while we all state, "I just don't trust mainstream media."  I find myself leaning toward news sources that are definitely outside of mainstream, yet fact checking can be very difficult and I certainly do not want to give a false report.  All things considered, though, fact checking mainstream media, doesn't offer much reassurance either.  Operation Jade Helm 15 continues to be downplayed in the news officially, while those of us trying to keep it on the radar are billed as conspiracy theorists.  More division, always more division.

Sadly, our politics appears to be divided by all of the divisive topics . . . Or perhaps, our politics are simply choreographed to give the appearance of party division, rather than the true division which is between "the powers that be" and "we the people."  Since that line appears to be based upon wealth, perhaps it's time to stop watching the politicians for leadership, and stop listening to the media for answers, and realize the love of money is the root of all evil and the only true refuge is found in our Creator.

And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.  And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.  ~ words of Messiah

Truth in Wit? Media Manipulation

It's difficult to be a journalist while also being negative about the media.  The line between conspiracy theories and truth seems to be intentionally blurred.  Discernment is often called paranoia.  The past few years, I've noticed April 1st seems to be the day to unveil some truth with an advisory that says "just kidding . . ."  A few years ago following the Boston Marathon bombing there was an article about seventy some armed individuals fighting for their 4th amendment rights.  In reading the entire article, it was revealed this took place in the 1700s.  Today's America, obviously, would not literally fight to uphold the Bill of Rights, but it wasn't long following the "lock down" of Boston that the fourth amendment was obviously no longer even on life support.

As I've matured in my responsibility to publish the truth, I usually don't share anything on April 1st, but I just couldn't overlook this year's article from Mercola.  The article addressed "mandatory vaccines" with a disclaimer at the end of the article.  The link above provides the full article.  Here is the disclaimer with my personal observation as to how this disclaimer is quite misleading:
                                                   NOTICE

This piece is our annual April Fool's article. Some of the details herein are true, however, and the article could be suggestive of what we might face in the near future, should we fail to take corrective action to protect and preserve vaccine exemptions, informed consent, and medical freedom of choice.

"Some of the details herein are true" so the article is not completely bogus as the first sentence would lead us to believe.  Am I paranoid?  Am I promoting a conspiracy theory?  It's not paranoia or a theory if it's really taking place!  The truth of the matter is, there are already places in which vaccinations are mandatory, such as health care professionals.  I remember back in the 90s, when I did some traveling in ministry, the intense pressure I received to be vaccinated and re-vaccinated for some things.  It's only become more intense and will continue to do so.

In my humble opinion, the questionable part of the article had to do with the phone apps for non-vaxxers, as tracking those who are compliant with health care protocol will be more likely to be the case.  Tractable and trackable will go hand in hand.  We do know some health facilities require flu shots for their employees, and some schools are cracking down on those who opt out of vaccinations for philosophical reasons.  I heard on radio news that some pediatricians will refuse patients whose parents do not agree to their immunization schedule.  So, whether we say it or not; mandatory vaccinations are already going into place.

In further contemplation, I did share the link in social media.  There are many who are aware that pressure is increasing for mandatory vaccination regulation.  Vaccines will be a campaign issue in the next presidential election, if mandatory legislation is not already in place.  Between the media, herd mentality, faith in modern medicine, Affordable Healthcare Act, and Big Pharma, our medical freedom of choice is very much on the line.  There's no single day in April that can deny that fact!  Just the fact that the article has been posted and qualifies that some details are true, clearly conveys anti-vaxxers are and will continue to be in the social crosshairs of this country's aim.   The truth expressed with some fictitious wrapping on April 1st doesn't negate the truth or the direction we are headings.

I'm going to use an example of media humor to prepare "the way" the society will be led.  Now before anyone jumps to conclusions, I am not suggesting vaccinations and being gay have anything in common, except media hype.  I am pointing out that the media not only uses fear, but also humor to manipulate the herd mentality.  Remember Ellen Degeneres' sitcom in the mid to late 90s?  Comedy or wit is frequently used to test the waters of an issue.  When she came out on the show, the ratings of that individual show was high, but by 1998, the show was cancelled.   I hadn't realized, however; "Will and Grace" made it's debut one season later . . .  and enjoyed great success.  Ellen went on to have her talk show and gay rights now trump individual freedoms in weekly headlines.  The gay agenda was introduced as comedy.  The media is playing heavily on the herd mentality regarding a number of social issues.  Social issues have a way of becoming legislative agendas.  Legislative agendas become a means of control.

The Hype of Economic Recovery

As we're told the stats of unemployment and we've watched the gasoline prices plummet are we in a genuine economic recovery or have we simply accepted what we're told and learned to live with the new standard of life?  In reading headlines and comments across social media, the opinions vary widely.  Professional reporters and journalists, for the most part seem to write that which promotes the political leaning of their particular publication.  It appears to this writer, the political leanings of the various publications continue to further divide the country not only on solutions, but now, as to even question the reality of the issues.  As to those who comment, there of course, is always the perspective based upon politics, but also the social status of the one making the comment.  We seem to have divided the political parties with a sort of social caste system.  There are poor republicans and some democrats who are quite wealthy.

The people have become so divided by political propaganda, the truth has been rendered nearly irrelevant.  There are a number of impoverished republicans who truly believe the impoverished democrats are the reason they are poor.  There are a great many impoverished democrats who are blind to the fact their elected representatives live just like the rich republicans they hate.  I read and listened to the predictions that food prices would drop when gasoline prices did.  That simply is not the case.  Food prices are based upon so much more than transportation costs and the expense of producing the food was factored in long before gasoline prices fluctuated.  The cost of feed for meat and the cost of herbicides and harvest for grain and produce is what affects the price of food.  Gasoline is just what is obvious to all, on the signs!  Gasoline prices keep the keystone pipeline and fracking debates fueled . . .

I also read that cash saved at the pumps would flow back into the economy.  When people are already over extended living paycheck to paycheck, the extra cash from the pumps may curb business at the Cash Advance places, but that's about it.  When a society lives on debt and borrowed income, reduced costs don't change the perpetual motion or increase the buying power.  We've gone too far beyond that.  Doing more of what caused the problem is not a solution.  Cash Advance places and Appliance Rental businesses are a large part of our economy now.  More expendable cash is only a product of excess printing by the Federal Reserve.

The number of shuttered businesses is increasing.  Unemployment statists are changing, not based upon full time employment, but rather on the fact that unemployment benefits are no longer being collected by a given percentage.  The reasons for that are primarily NOT due to gainful employment, but the time of collecting benefits has run it's course, or the individual has settled for less pay and fewer hours.  The stats are even manipulated by the fact many underemployed individuals actually make up two figures in the employment statistics with two part time jobs.  Then, there is also the fact, many formerly unemployed have now become recipients of early social security benefits or now collect disability.

The number of empty storefronts is expanding.  Recently I've seen something that bears reporting.  Pawn Shops are now closing.  Thrift Stores are going out of business.  New businesses are not replacing these.  The buildings simply stand with a for rent or for sale sign in the window.  Economic recovery?  When independent businesses continue to shutter, and the workforce continues to decline, that's not recovery.  Buying more junk with cash saved at the gas pumps will not bring economic recovery or stability.

. . . that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living G-d . . . Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come . . . Paul's advice to Timothy

Truth and Lies

Scripture tells us, knowing the truth sets us free, so conversely, accepting lies holds us in bondage . . .  Sometimes the very things we hope for and cling to, are nothing more than lies we tell ourselves, or the lies we "choose" to believe from others.  I'm not suggesting we're running around intending to lie to ourselves or others, but rather; our society has redefined so much, it's as if the foundation of our culture is held together by a mortar of dishonesty.  It has become socially unacceptable to speak truth or to reject lies.

We already know an honest candidate will not be elected to any high office in the land, and on the rare chance it does happen, it's a given, they will either not remain honest or leave politics.  Many of us also believe our news is filtered and reports are biased.  I believe it was Sarah Palin, or her press agent, who coined the phrase "lame-stream" media in reference to mainstream media.  While many have chosen to repeat that ad nauseum, the truth of the matter is, Sarah Palin resigned from her office to become a part of the media . . . the 'lame-stream' mainstream media.  That fact alone should cause some to scratch their heads, but instead, it's merely coined a phrase and further divided the political theatre.

When I read that bloggers may be "written out" of free speech or freedom of the press, I decided to plunge headlong into the profession of journalism.  I've joined the ranks of alternative news.  As more and more alternative news is becoming available, I've been a bit bewildered about something that continues to happen.  The mainstream news, although "lame and biased" is still considered "the final word" on information.  People have actually told me, they only have one news source, and appear to be quite sure, their source would publish or report anything deemed newsworthy.

My own mother, who is openly disgusted with any news sources beyond her own single source, asked me how I knew my information was accurate.  My own mother!  We continuously choose to believe what we want to hear.  We choose information sources that make us feel good about the views we hold and the opinions we foist upon others.  The majority of our society has stopped seeking truth, if we ever did, and have chosen to listen to the reports that reinforce our perspective.  Once we realize the information is filtered and biased, it's no longer truth, but mere opinion at best, and programming propaganda at worst.

As our foundation of false security continues to crumble, we need to realize, blame will not work like super glue!  Finding the truth, the whole truth is virtually impossible, but it should be getting easier to recognize the spin on the information we are being fed.  I'm proud to say, I'm not part of the mainstream media, but I don't choose to call it lame-stream.  Media is a power in our society, and as with any earthly power, power is best maintained by telling the people what they want to hear.  Whether we're bound to a particular source, a particular party, a particular religion, or a particular perspective; we need not be bound at all!

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  ~ words of Messiah
