Simply Amazing

I am truly amazed at how many people actually seem to think President Obama is moving heaven and earth in less than 9 months. I am getting a number of e-mails that are suddenly just sure our government wants to control us! Really, now! Where was everyone through the USA Patriot Act? Where was everyone when the avian flu was going to get us all? Where was everyone way back in the early 90's when the S&L's crashed and the government picked up that tab? Where was everyone when our then President Bush 41 announced that there was a global recession? I remember, we simply made credit more available, expanded the government, and gave doctors more power and less accountability and until just that last year, that was fine. Now, the sky is falling! I am no Obama fan, by any stretch of the imagination, but I know he hasn't implemented everything that is looming toward us. I don't care for the way he spoke about his predecessor at the UN, I found that very disrespectful and well not so American, but I don't think he has put all the pieces together to take America from the people. That plan has been a long time in the making and it's been built rather slowly until the last 25 or 30 years. Now, it does appear to be full steam ahead, but just because President Obama sounds disrespectful of so much of Americana, doesn't mean he's implemented all that is going on. I do, however; think he shows enough disregard to carry much of this out. It would be nice if the American people could actually get past their politics and realize we need to be running our country, ourselves, not sitting back and waiting for the politicians to make the changes. I'm glad many folks are finally waking up and seeing what's going on. It's a shame it didn't happen 30 years sooner.

Reality Questions

What if we do find out that our nation's health care is really only about a profit margin for insurance and pharmaceutical companies? What if the FDIC really doesn't have enough money to cover all the potential bank closings? What if someone holding America's debt realizes America's toxic assets are nothing but a liability? Why have we decided to pass on the legacy of debt we inherited? Why can't anyone see that the Social Security System truly is a Ponzi scheme? What if, whomever is holding America's debt calls in the note? What if the new health care plan is as financially short sighted as cash for clunkers was? What if we went back in time, say before the 1980 Presidential election and considered again, just how deceptive the idea that lower interest rates on credit meant prosperity? When did credit and debt truly become the foundation of the American dream? What have we really taught our kids and prepared them for? What if our paper money is declared to be only worth the paper it's written on?
But G~D said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? New Testament

Now, Here's a New One

The FDIC would like a loan . . . Is that not rich or what? Seems the FDIC is having a bit of trouble making "ends meet." As we all know, the FDIC has been handing out quite a bit of money lately, in bank closings. If one bank takes over another, the FDIC doesn't have to get involved, but when a bank is closed completely, the funds in each account must be distributed to the owners and it's the FDIC that does that. Now, the FDIC is only asking for loans from healthy banks. Let's break this down, for just a minute. Borrowing has gotten us into this horrible recession, depression mess. Banks have already been bailed out and interest rates are negligible. The only incentive people really have to maintain bank accounts is the convenience of writing a check or using a debit card. With savings and CD interest at an absolute minimum, the banks don't have as much money to even work with. Many banks received a government bail out and many banks have simply collapsed. Our FDIC has always been the safeguard against what happened in the first Great Depression. The FDIC has been the federally backed insurance for account holders. And now, the FDIC is asking the banks, "Hey, buddy, can you spare a dime?" Doesn't sound like the end of the recession/depression is anywhere soon on the horizon.

Cheap Politics

I started to actually mention Massachusetts in the title of this blog, but then I reconsidered. I can't tell if Massachusetts is setting a horrible example or simply, openly exposing the truth of American politics. First of all, Massachusetts is already doing this mandated health care in their state. It was, by the way, implemented by a Republican Governor. Some folks say the new health care plan has made things even worse than before, as far as primary care, etc. But today, yet another Massachusetts headline caught my attention. Seems the State Senate is passing a bill that will allow the governor to appoint someone to fill the seat of Senator Kennedy until a special election in January. Senator Kennedy's vacant seat appears to be costing the Democrats their full 60 seat filibuster-proof power. What I found particularly interesting about this new bill is the reason it's needed, is so recent. From what I've been able to glean, many states already have it in their constitution, or whatever, that the governor can appoint a temporary seating until a special election is held, and Massachusetts had that until 2004. The State Senate at that time scurried to get that law changed in the event that Senator John Kerry were elected president. At that time, the predominantly democratic State Senate did not want to take a chance that then, republican, Governor Mitt Romney, could appoint anyone. So, basically, the politicians can simply change laws and amend laws as the winds of party change directions. Since they are indeed proving that fact right before our very eyes, why does so much loss of freedom for the people legislation not get undone when the party changes?

A New Solution for the Health Care Crisis

I realize all my various ideas have fallen on deaf ears or in reality, I'm sure have never even gotten to the ears of TPTB at all. But now I shall introduce the plan of all plans. We have been told that there are approximately 50 million uninsured Americans in this country. The three basic reasons appear to be the following:
1. Insurance denied for pre-existing condition.
2. Can't afford the premiums
3. Religious reasons
And how many of those with the second problem, have this problem because of the first issue?
So, the solution is so obvious, I can't believe Congress hasn't already come up with it. It won't take a 1000 page document. Since I basically fall into all three categories, I feel comfortable offering this plan.
Now we know that Congress cannot make a law regarding religion, but we have enough legal eagles in Washington to work around such documents as the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Please! We've already seen that!
Simply pass a bill that declares faith outside of science and government, to be illegal, possibly treason. Then pass a bill that declares poverty to be illegal. And finally, simply make it illegal to have a chronic or incurable illness.
Problem solved!

Warning!

I've only read this one place, and I don't have time right now to research it, but it bears sharing, if it's true. I read that the same recall and fines applies to selling used items as it does to retailers. What I gather that to mean, is this. If you sell something that has been on the recall list, say on e-bay, or technically, even at a garage sale, the potential fines are astronomical. Our government is protecting us from ourselves once again . . . and of course, the government wants to protect the children. So until further research or corroboration, I'd suggest that everyone be careful. If you're selling the old stuff in the attic and basement to try to stretch the budget, make sure you won't have to come up with an extra $100,000.00 per item on the recall list. The article was archived rather quickly at FOX, so I'm not sure, but just in case . . . I truly hope this isn't one more way to shackle those that are trying to stay afloat. And I do hope Congress has more to do than pass yet more legislation to make us all a 1/2 step away from law breaker.
And that no man might buy or sell . . . the Revelation

Earth to Washington

Greetings, Capitol Hill dwellers.
Here is news from the people, you know, the ones that pay your salaries, and even get you elected, or not; to represent us. You haven't been listening to us, and I really hope you hear this. This health care reform bill you have finally drafted or as I call it, "crafted" is not acceptable to "we the people." Oh, I know one of you or most of you are going to add some special DC spin and try to feed it to us, but here are the plain facts. This bill that now includes the term, mandatory, and removed the words, public option, is not even heading for a slippery slope, it's already there. First, by legislating insurance to be mandatory, you will make those that do not have it, criminals. Good job, we're loving it already! The next thing this mandatory word does, is to cause some people that are already financially strapped to have to come up with more money to obtain coverage. You know this word mandatory is going to sink some more small businesses. And oh, comparing it to auto insurance to justify mandatory, get real. Auto ownership is optional. Enough said, there. Now, we already know this is specifically aimed at the middle class, or as you folks now call us, the working class. The elderly and disabled already have their socialized "public option" medicine, so they have time to paint signs and protest. The poor have medicaid and assistance, but the people that are already supporting this house of cards called the American economy, cannot withstand the added burden. Oh, I know, you tell us it's only going to cost hundreds of billions, but look at this from our perspective. Most working people are already paying pretty hefty premiums or already can't afford the coverage. Now, with mandatory coverage, you throw us a crumb that will kill us. The bill includes language that says insurance companies cannot refuse for pre-existing conditions or cancel for major claims. I don't know if you people really aren't that smart or you think we are that dumb. Let me explain it. With this insurance regulation that means the premiums are guaranteed to be higher. We all know the insurance companies are only in this for compassion for the people, right! They are going to make money and if they can't exclude the big expenses, everyone will pay more and if we opt out, we're criminals. As for eliminating the public option, I know you think you're making the right side of the aisle happy, but ultimately the entire lot of you have told us, our health coverage is no longer in our hands. You plan to make the mandate and remove the option.
Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness . . . Torah of Holy Scripture

Let Freedom Ring

Those words are the background, moving sound before Sean Hannity opens his mouth. The words and the music are gripping and the feeling of the words swell within your very soul, until you realize you are in the presence of Sean and then it's just well in a word, OVER. Ben Burnanke says he thinks the recession is likely over. Now there's a good strong; "maybe, we'll see." Yet rising unemployment is still expected and nobody even mentions the monumental debt that has never been addressed, other than to know we plan to have our grandchildren pay it, because we still have two generations of people that are going to collect, because they paid into it. Just a quick math question for all concerned. How do you sort the difference between what gets assigned to be inherited debt and what is acceptable to be collected as the result of some contribution? And, of course, we have the annual flag pledge debate. This year it's gotten interesting though. Some states are having the schools inform the children, "they have the right to remain silent." What a deal, with all the hupti-la about "under G~D," now for the most part whether it's religious reasons or anti-religious reasons, these children are read their Miranda rights over their beliefs or their parent's beliefs. Just for a quick history lesson, a Baptist preacher wrote the "pledge of allegiance" back in 1892 and it did not contain the words "under G~D." Congress added those words in 1954 through the McCarthy era. So, if a Baptist preacher didn't think it needed to be there and Congress added it, sounds like America envisioned G~D to be more of a political pawn than the Almighty Creator that stated we are not to pledge our allegiance to anyone or anything but HIM. Even though it is for the most part the atheists making a stand about this, the Jehovah's Witness kids have been out in the hall for years while the pledge is recited and from what I can tell, it really is Scriptural to use that "right to remain silent."
Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image . . .

Mr. President . . . yet Another Czar?

So, one year after the so called beginning of the collapse of the economy, that was really already officially in recession the year before, our President announced that he wants more banking regulation. Our government in control of money management is very much akin to the fox guarding the hen house. But then if President Obama can manage legislation to regulate our health and our money, what will he have left to conquer in the remaining three years of his term? I thought George W. Bush was a control freak, but he doesn't hold a candle to our current President. I had originally typed "pales in comparison" but you know, if we aren't approving of the current administration, it is somehow now, interpreted to be racist . . . At least when G.W. started gaining control, there had been an actual crisis, created or not, there was a crisis that actually involved human life. Now, here it's only money, over and over and over again. It's still only money. He talks about health care and people not getting the best, but in reality, no one is turned away from an emergency room. And I just can't help but laugh at all the Medicare recipients that are against "socialized medicine." If he really wants to regulate something that will address both health care and waste, he needs to go after the insurance companies. They control the health care and they are now in the banking business. I just can't help but wonder just how much the Insurance Banking business affected our economic collapse. Instead of more invasive government over we the people, deal with the insurance companies. That's enough bureaucracy and red tape to keep insurance and Congress busy and off our backs for years to come. As for the President managing the banking industry . . . Cash for clunkers ran out of money, how many months and weeks short of the original plan? and oh, it had to be refinanced as well. Mr. President, I think you need to just stick to campaigning and eloquent speaking.

Over the Top and Gone Way Too Far!

The South African runner, Caster Semenya, has really been treated horribly by the media. She's the woman that beat all records in the 800m something. Anyway, there was a question regarding her gender and possibly performance enhancement drugs. Well, she's cleared on the drug deal and "media word" is, she's outwardly a female, but has internal male organs. Since the rumored claim states internal, obviously this is not something she is trying to hide, but rather was hidden from her. I realize I'm old fashioned in my view, but I've always considered the best gender test to simply be a mirror when getting out of the shower. As a general rule of thumb, what you see is what you are. Oh, I know, according to TV talk shows, there are "women in men's bodies" and vice versa. But this is an 18 year old young woman that has all external evidence of being a female. I read that her voice was rather deep, so is mine. I read that her muscles are very toned. I wish mine were, and I've seen some females that are. Of course her speed is what really raised the question of gender. She is fast! I looked at her picture at the time of the race and I saw her picture on the front of the magazine and IMHO, she looks like an athlete. I've seen a number of female athletes that do not look terribly feminine at the time of their competition, and look rather chiseled and firm even in dresses. She was quite attractive on the magazine cover, though. The IAAF has not confirmed what the media has claimed, which is really the point of my blog. If what the media is claiming is true, which is unconfirmed, she is still a female that was not using performance enhancing drugs. She has the higher testosterone level in her body, naturally. Good for her! Some women with high testosterone can't beat world records, they just have a mustache. I do think this is the tackiest of all tacky and a horrible invasion of her privacy. She shouldn't have to read, even a rumored account about herself, and if it is true, all the worse that this has been made public, the way it has. She is outwardly female and if she either lacks ovaries or has both ovaries and testicles, she certainly shouldn't have to read it on the internet. If it is true, she has a lot to deal with. If she's a woman without ovaries, let her have her race, she can't have children, and now with this breaking "news" she can't have her life back, either. Her life will never be the same, whether this is fact or fiction. I don't know how anyone could do this to an 18 year old girl that had just won the race of a lifetime.
I used to think journalism was a worthy career, but it seems it's been inundated with busy bodies, gossips, and meddlers. This story is not news, it's unconfirmed.
It's presumptive gossip, at best, and malicious prevarication, at worst.
And withal they learn to be idle . . . and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. New Testament

The Big Speech

Our President is really determined to "give" us health care. He feels as strongly about our health care as the last President felt about war. And health care and war just cost so much! I'm even thinking war contributes to the rising costs of health care. So, knowing our President is a persuasive and gifted orator, will he get the votes needed to give us what most of us already have and don't want? He really is an eloquent speaker, but the campaigning time is over. Now he has to lead and deliver. It's so hard to do that when someone doesn't want to actually pin themselves down with a potentially unpopular stand. As I've watched this Presidency, he just really doesn't strike me as a leader, as much as he's a speaker and a campaigner. I don't think he was expecting his popularity to be changing so rapidly. Well, perhaps he'll pull yet another rabbit out of his hat and win the people, but I'm thinking the tide has turned . . . already.

KUDOS to Laura Bush

I was truly impressed today by the former first lady. But then, she's had years of experience and practice in being a tactful diplomat. I am not of a conservative leaning, but I truly had to applaud and acknowledge her statement, which basically stated, "The office of the President is to be respected." I know I heard several times, through the Bush administration, the quoting of Romans 13:1, 2. Well, G~D's Word stands forever, so therefore, it still applies, and I truly applaud Laura Bush for bringing that fact to our attention. Presidents have been addressing the young people of this nation for years. This is hardly the first administration with an agenda or an outreach to the youth.
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of G~D: the powers that be are ordained of G~D. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of G~D: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. New Testament

The President's Speech to Young People

I'm sure most Americans have gotten something in their Inbox today about the upcoming speech the President is planning to have simulcast through public schools. Of course, the e-mails contain inflammatory information to persuade the reader against the "other party." Those for the speech are all up in arms about the closed minded intolerant conservative ultra right wing, and the ultra right wing is sure President Obama wants kindergartners to become communists, so they recommend keeping the children home from school that day. Could be we are finally seeing what happens to a country that teaches blind loyalty to it's leaders. President Obama is certainly not the first president to address the young people or attempt to influence them, and whether we like it or not, he is the president. I remember through the last administration, being verbally smacked by the ultra conservatives with Romans 13:1, 2. Still stands today, folks. I've got an idea that might just be too moderate to be American. Why don't we have all the social liberals that want to teach our children to share and give to everyone equally, teach it by example, rather than words. Reality check here. Liberal democratic representatives do not live lower than the big business conservative representatives, now do they ? . . . And for all the ultra conservatives that want to keep their kids home from school that day. What are you going to teach them? Book burning? Why don't parents take back the responsibility of teaching their children. I attended both liberal college and ultra conservative religious college and I don't believe what I heard either place. All closed minded extremists and ultras of every leaning have one thing in common. They have all been brainwashed and programmed and believe everyone else has been too. Some of us still prefer to actually talk to G~D and think for ourselves, and teach our children to do the same. Then you don't have to worry so much about who tries to influence them, if they've learned the truth.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith YHVH . . . a Prophet of Holy Scripture

Come on Now Pfizer

This is going to sound just a little bit smug, on my part, and even though I am not directly involved, I felt just a bit of self-righteous glee over the headline that Pfizer will be paying over $2B in fines and whatever . . . As I read the article, the company obviously promises to implement new policy and procedure. Which I think now translates to: new ways around this old rule, and more persuasive lobbyists! Every big company is always sorry and always takes responsibility when they get caught, right? Seems they were actually promoting a few meds making claims that had not been FDA approved for the claims, and although the term kick back wasn't used, there was plenty of rewarding those in positions to write prescriptions. The four medications in question had been FDA approved for something, but when some of the "side effects" produced positive results in some other physical issue, Pfizer indicated the claims began to "take on a life of their own." The court says otherwise. Clearly these big corporations know the rules, and you'd think with the product that's being made, they would want a certain level of trust from the consumer. So why didn't they just do it right? And I just can't help but wonder. If Pfizer has over 2 billion to toss around over carelessness, why not reduce the price of prescriptions? That might do wonders on the cost of health care, without a big bill to reform it.
We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble! a Prophet of Holy Scripture

Operation Iraqi Freedom

I've made no bones about how I feel about the war in Iraq. Clearly, it had nothing to do with 9/11 and now nearly 8 years after 9/11 we've spent billions upon billions in Iraq, lost more lives than were lost on 9/11, and still no one knows where Osama bin Laden even is, or if he's dead or alive . . . or if he really even did it!
I realize we have made a puppet government in Iraq and called it freedom, but an article I read at CNN just turned my stomach.
The headline was about a woman that is on death row, fearing the death penalty. Oh, I know, here in compassionate America, the majority still believe in the death penalty, but a word in the caption really caused me great angst. This woman is on death row for accessory to murder, which indicates she is not the murderer, but the person that she was supposedly the accessory to, is still free and apparently has moved on in life. So, for those that still embrace capital punishment as part of a civilized nation, consider the fact that a murderer is walking loose, and the government knows it, both Iraq's government and America's government.
>•Samar Saed Abdullah, 27, was convicted as accessory to murder of 3 relatives
•She says police coerced and tortured her into confessing
•Ministry of Justice maintains that judicial system is "fair and just">

>>Amnesty International issued a report Tuesday saying that at least 1,000 prisoners sit on Iraq's death row and that Iraq now has one of the highest execution rates in the world. The report says Iraq's court system does not meet international standards and that authorities "provide very little information on executions, and some have been carried out secretly."<<
I thought excessive executions was the charge against Saddam Hussein after, long after, George W. Bush convinced his neo-cons that Saddam Hussein must be killed. How does all this killing figure into Operation Iraqi Freedom?
And G~D said unto Abraham . . . also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
