Our nation is getting so arrogant and divided, I'm beginning to conduct my own poll of observation. I can usually tell by the way someone parks, and that is without their bumper stickers as to their political leaning. You can tell how someone conducts themselves in a restaurant as to their political leanings and you can certainly tell by the contents of the grocery cart, as to their party of choice. Now, as in every poll, there is a margin of error and the exceptions to the rules, but by and large, I will notice basic human behavior and then there will be some anti- comment made in their conversation with someone else. All I have to do is enjoy my pastime of "people watching" and listen carefully. I truly have noticed that the Democrats are still blaming President Bush, just like the Republicans blamed President Clinton through the Bush years, oh and President Carter. But in all fairness, now through the Obama administration, I still hear complaints about Reagan, yet, I digress. Back to my observation. By and large, in restaurants, Democrats are louder. Republicans seem to be more annoyed with what they perceive to be substandard. Democrats spend more on dinner and tip bigger. When it comes to parking lots, Democrats tend to park close to the yellow line and at a bit of an angle. Republicans often take up more than one space. As for grocery carts, Republicans have more red meat and actual food that requires preparation. Democrats tend to have more fruit and prepared foods, as well as specialty items. I simply have to share this example as my husband had no idea I was amusing myself in such a fashion. We were in town the other day to go to the auto parts store. My husband is disabled and I've been struggling with my own health issue as of late, so perhaps I was a bit more sensitive to the situation. We got to the store and in front of it was a huge 4 door Dodge Ram with a boat behind it taking up 5 parking places. I looked at my husband and told him I was really unimpressed with that Republican. He asked me how I knew . . . We got into the store and in a matter of just moments, when it was time to pay for their items, as she wrote the check, she spoke of "Obama's tax," "Obama's economy," "Obama's stimulus" and how disgusting it all was. I simply looked at my husband and at that moment, he realized anyone that felt entitled to 5 parking places, and they continued to hog all those places while they piddled with the boat . . . felt no responsibility or obligation to do anything but complain and take up space. This particular administration, those folks are Republicans. They had no problem watching me limp past and my husband go all around their menagerie on crutches. I hope they don't think their little purchase was going to keep the small business man in business as they blocked his door.

Recurring Dream, sort of
Although the dream scenario differs, I have this one odd detail that shows up every now and again in my dreams. My dreams are usually pretty easy to attribute to the stress of the day or the extra spicy late night meal, but every so often, I believe they are of greater significance. Sometimes I believe they call for spiritual interpretation or are even prophetic in nature. Now, back to the detail that presents itself every so often. Most of my dreams are probably like everyone else's. A few combined scenarios that would never actually be simultaneous or contain various people that are never all together in any given circumstance. Even though I can connect certain unlikely details, the one that crops up that leaves me puzzled is, in the midst of whatever I'm dreaming about, I'm smoking. And it's not just a casual part of the dream, it takes the focus, because I used to smoke and in the dream I'm not just still smoking, I've started AGAIN! It's always a horrible feeling. I'm always sure I will never be able to return to being smoke free, again, and that feeling of the bondage of cigarettes is what awakens me every time it's a part of my dream. I used to attribute this dream factor to unresolved anger in my life, because when I did quit smoking, I realized how much smoking really was related to my anger management. It was as if when I inhaled the smoke, I could just suck in the words and internalize my anger. And I think I did. I still do think it's associated with anger for a lot of smokers, but my dream last night included so many scenarios and people from all different places and times of my life, I felt this one was just of a different type of significance. Now, granted, I did wake up with heart burn after this dream and went to bed feeling odd, but after reading the headlines, I think it is of spiritual significance. We are a very angry people, as a nation. I believe I can already see the groundwork in place for the 2010 election. We, as a nation, aren't going to be voting FOR anything, but rather AGAINST what we don't want. We are an angry nation and the politicians know that, the talking heads know that, and we the people know that, and we like to feed it. I'm just wondering if we are becoming more outwardly open with our anger because of the smoking cessation campaigns of the last 20+ years or because we are becoming comfortable with being divided into angry mobs. If we're not really going to seek G~D, we should at least read some history. Fearful, angry mobs are the easiest to control!

Good News for Two Navy Seals
I have been following along in the news regarding the three Navy Seals that were facing Courts Martial over the capture of some alQadai bad guy. This is the guy that was supposed to have done horrific things to the guys of Blackwater that were killed earlier in this mess. Now, I've mentioned this situation before, but it bears repeating, especially after what these guys have endured. First, no civilians were harmed in the capture of the man who was considered armed and dangerous. Second, this was his word to an Iraqi guard, well after the fact. Third, these Navy Seals were offered a deal to plead guilty to a lesser charge. Fourth, these guys kept doing their job, while awaiting this dog and pony show. Fifth, just what message have we sent to the enemy and the rest of the world? And sixth, I can't help but wonder if this will change the way captures take place and whether this will reduce the chances of the enemy being taken alive. I'm terribly happy these guys were found not guilty and I believe it is an answer to prayer. I'm believing the other Navy Seal will also be found not guilty if our military doesn't just drop the charges, all together, which they should! I wasn't for this war at all, I still don't think we should be there, but I for sure believe we need to be standing behind our troops and doing whatever we can to shorten their tours and reduce the number of tours our military has endured with this outrageous war. If this was ever about 9/11, which I doubt, we're in the wrong countries. I sincerely hope these young men and the other people serving can do their already stressful job without having to worry about the new American hero's welcome . . . a Court Martial.

Invitation, Rescinded
Well, it is official, the Pentagon has rescinded it's invitation for Franklin Graham to lead in prayer or speak on National Day of Prayer. All because he said some things about Islam with which he disagrees. Now, what I find interesting is the reasons given by the Pentagon that basically support what Franklin Graham was reported to have said. He made reference to the violence of Muslim law and the Pentagon is worried about possible violent responses. So, if the Pentagon is worried about some sort of reprisal, what did Franklin Graham say that wasn't true? I'm not saying all Muslims are violent, I'm not saying all Christians are not, what I am saying is, what is going on with our Pentagon? Surely someone in military intelligence was aware of Mr. Graham's statements . . . so if there was a problem with him, in the "cause of separation of church and state," why didn't the Pentagon simply bow out? How much action does our Pentagon take and then weigh the consequences? And why can't preachers have free speech? Rescinding this invitation makes the Pentagon look cowardly, as far as I can tell, and I think that isn't a good military strategy. Regardless of the political correctness of how to handle this hot button religious issue, the Pentagon should have all it's facts before taking action and then be courageous enough to stand behind the decision. I've read about a number of situations as of late that seemed like a religious group was staging and creating the appearance of it's own persecution, but not this time. Franklin Graham has served as the honorary chairman of this committee and in accordance with their tradition . . . he was to be the speaker or offer the prayer. Years ago, I did participate in National Day of Prayer, but the task force got so pushy and exclusive that I didn't find it very inviting or G~Dly. It just seemed to present a different message than it did in years past. I personally believe we should be praying for our troops every day and I think we should be thanking G~D for the mercy he has shown this arrogant nation of ours. Keep in mind every time you hear the word PRIDE associated with our nation or America, the words; pride and arrogance are synonyms.

Change
We've all heard or even may have said, "Now I've seen everything." Well, there have been times that something just catches me as a "Wow! Is this a 'now I've seen everything'?" As we've all watched the change coming from Washington, I for one, have not been impressed any more with this administration than I was with the last one, but the last one was easier to deal with for me. I could see where we were headed and it still seemed a somewhat distant future, but now it just seems like we've gained so much momentum. And it's not really the man in the Oval office, it's the choices we as a nation, have made and the results accumulated through the years. I'm seeing the heart ripped out of the last of the American spirit, or maybe the true spirit of freedom is being restored, I can't say, yet, but I definitely see the change. I've believed for some time now that the only true way to be free is free in G~D's truth which puts me outside of the mainstream American ideology of "G~D, country and family values," because what we have here in America isn't what is found in G~D's Word of truth. And although I do believe our government should not control our speech or our gun ownership, I'm not militant about the Second Amendment. As a matter of fact, I think the NRA is controlled by or does control a certain amount of our government. I know some very staunch members who feel it is their right to decide who is allowed a gun and who is not, so I am not a card carrying member of the NRA, although I do enjoy making "sport" of the organization at times. I do believe I ran across one of those: "Wow, now I've seen it all and it's come to this," moments yesterday. I saw an ad that was looking for a garden tiller and stated very clearly that they would trade an AK-47 for a tiller. Someone that has an AK-47 is usually pretty adamant about their Second Amendment Rights and usually harbors a significant fear that they will not be able to replace their firearms in the near future, so I took it more as a reflection on our economy and that this individual may be seriously reprioritizing. With the NRA scaring everyone about losing their guns, someone has realized food is even more important or may be having to choose between eating and fighting for the Bill of Rights. I hadn't seen this angle of authority coming, but hunger is a powerful motivator for CHANGE!

Realization
In the realization that we now have the change . . . that we elected, I'm feeling a change coming on this blog. Washington is "doing their thing" and "we the people" must do ours! Throughout this new millennium, this government has made just about everyone paranoid. Whether it was the Bush 43 years or the Obama drama, the government appears to have in it's sights, total control of we the people. Whether it's talk radio or the media, like it's two different things or internet spam forwards or bloggers, big brother is on top of it all, and it's not one party or the other, it's co-partisan. I've been wondering for some time why the republicans are so angry with Obama. We are still in two wars, America is still a super power, and he's cutting all sorts of slack for big corporate America, so what's the gripe? And why were the democrats so upset with Bush? He made a great big government! And really, you could be more vocal against President Bush's decisions than you can with the present administration, which even in this non-republican's opinion is big in the Free Speech department. President Bush didn't win my approval on the USA Patriot Act, but I definitely felt the freedom to disagree more openly with President Bush than is possible now. Every time I see a picture of President Obama, he's looking pretty intense and not so approachable. One man has not made the mess that is our government. It's been years of evil erosion, selfish opportunistic entitlement, and flat out idolatry. There isn't an American Christian that wouldn't gasp in horror at ancient Egypt's worship of a bird, but check out the laws regarding the bald eagle. As one party blames the other, I'm here to tell you, that's part of the distraction as the country simply sinks into the abyss.

A Strengthening Economy??????
I think I am catching on as to why I haven't noticed things improving. The standard of strength isn't gauged by the people, it's gauged by the power brokers and they appear to be gaining strength. I'm going to use a personal credit card as an example. I am not saying Target National Bank was in on the TARP, but I see a definite strengthening in the past 5 years. Let me explain. When we were moving in the summer of 2005, Target had an introductory offer of 10 or 20% off the in store purchase if a person applied for their credit card which offered an introductory rate of 7.9%. Since we don't carry a balance on a credit card, we figured it was an instant savings. Not to mention there was some sort of points system which afforded other discounts along the way. At any rate . . . We signed up and got our instant discount and within a few short days, received our cards in the mail. Now at that same time, our CD's in the bank were earning over 3.5% on short term CD's. Clearly, by the fact that the terms were short, change was already in the making, yet here in 2010 we can all see that with hind sight. Now, back to our strengthening economy. Now that our President and current Congress have saved us from our stupid selves once again, the credit card statement gives a great many new details. And of course, before the new laws took effect, they really ratcheted up the interest rates. Fortunately, we still do not carry a balance, because after 5 years of never being late and paying the full balance, we have earned the great rate of 20.24% interest on our credit card. But that's not all I have to report about our strengthening economy. My 2% Passbook Savings Account is paying better interest than a 2 year CD. And so I ask, where's the strength? Is it in the unmitigated gall of these credit card companies, some of which are still in business due to our tax dollars. Or is the strength in the superior attitude of Congress that spends their days looking for new ways to call their constituents, idiots, and hope we're not offended. Maybe the strength is in the debt ridden lending industry itself, as it partners with the government to own all our houses and land. Maybe the strength of the economy lies in the coffers of the politicians as they are touched by the warm embrace and deep pockets of the lobby. If other cards and banks reflect what I'm seeing in mine, I see a real strengthening against an already weakened and exhausted public.

Political Staging
Well, here it is, a little over a year of the Obama administration and I'm getting e-mails from republicans telling me how democrats have virtually ruined America and everything the American dream would ever mean or stand for. Wow! Just two short years ago, I was getting virtually the same e-mails from democrats telling me how republicans had ruined the way of life in America and the dream was dead for all the hard working people that did not rule.
Here is what I have gleaned from this. One, the internet is a powerful tool in the hands of those that would persuade. Two, both parties want to sling mud and cast stones, while neither party has a workable solution . . . Three, that's the real reason for a change of power every so often in elections. Four, the party leaders know who their sheeple are and they can count on them to spam the internet with political propaganda. Five, if the blame can continue and keep the people divided, the people won't even see "it" coming.
I'd like to say, any more spam forward, emails that I receive will be cut and pasted to this blog, but there are too many in any given day. So, what I will say is, the ones that stand out particularly annoying will be given as much attention as I possibly can give here at this blog.

Blogger's Block
I've really been having trouble maintaining my enthusiasm for blogging, as of late. I've attributed it to my computer crash, the nice weather and being outdoors, the long winter and extra activities, all the baby goats to play with, gardening, but after watching the Ten Commandments this past week, the revelation became clear. When I first began blogging, I had no trouble at all drawing a parallel between then President Bush and "the emperor" of the story "The Emperor's New Clothes." That was the guy that paraded naked because his advisers told him only stupid people couldn't see his clothes, but of course, he didn't want to admit he couldn't see them. Now that I think about it, even if it were true, why would anyone want stupid people to not be able to see the clothes they are wearing . . . then airport security comes to mind with the new body scanners. See, my blogs are beginning to take on a life of their own and it sort of intimidated me, but I think I'm getting on top of it, now that I've had my revelation. I, like so many, have had difficulty expressing disapproval of this current administration, because, well, it just isn't allowed. I mean you're either lacking intelligence, labelled a bigot, or simply don't care, but I disagree. President Obama has always reminded me of someone, but I couldn't place who. Through the G.W. years, I made reference to America comparing to ancient Rome and as of late, I've compared us to ancient Egypt. Then when I saw the Ten Commandments last week, it all came together. President Obama reminds me of Yul Brenner in his role of Pharaoh. President Obama has many of the same expressions and intensity in his leadership, as that of the actor in that particular role. I guess there is just a specific expression for one in pursuit of ultimate earthly power. Watching the Ten Commandments delivered me from my blogger's block.

How About Reagan's War on Drugs?
It seems to be expanding to making more and more criminals out of the general population. Now going to more than one doctor is called doctor shopping and there is in place an effort to monitor patients even more than before. With the new health care reform in place, what will be next? Now I know the republicans will blame all this on President Obama, but it was President Bush that signed electronic medical records into law, and President Reagan that started this so called war on drugs. What a farce. It's about controlling the people. If someone is in pain, legitimate pain, then they will be in more data systems to be kept track of, to get their pain medication. If someone gets hooked, after a surgery or accident, they also will go into a data system to make sure they also are monitored. Why not just regulate the physicians and the pharmaceutical companies? Why not legalize G~D's herbs like cannibas and let the farmers raise the special poppies? Too many pharmaceuticals are being manufactured with little regard for the long term effects, but it is another opportunity for Big Brother to keep tabs on we the people, and for what? So the peons can remember they do not have the clout of Rush Limbaugh? There will be no mea culpas for the mere mortals. Turning pharmaceutical drug addiction into a crime, while the doctors continue to enjoy their god status is outrageous, not to mention a real poor use of tax dollars spent to fund the police departments. And now with nurse practitioners on the rise, it's only a matter of time until all of America is penalized for no insurance coverage, too many trips to the doctor, or too many pills in the medicine cabinet. The war on drugs was just one more ruse for the government to control the people. It's a relief to know, this war on drugs will be just one of many issues that will finally be settled after the dust clears at Armageddon.
