Health Care Will Be the Death of Us

As I've been keeping my ear to the ground about Operation Jade Helm 15 and now Jade II Artificial Intelligence, while trying to keep up with the various attacks in states not involved in the "exercise;" a recurring thought continues to invade my awareness.  The health of Americans is declining and deteriorating, while dependency on pharmaceuticals continues to increase.  I was privy to some inside information back in the 90s as I saw a stark comparison to nursing "scrubs" and Nazi brown shirts.  There was a big scandal in the mid 90s with some of the nursing staff of one of the state's large "mental health" facility, in that town.  There was an underlying "excuse" and reason given for what had happened as "that's what the DON does."  The DON is the director of nursing, and life did change around that place after the shake up, but what stood out was the fact these nurses were all willing to "just follow orders" that they knew were not really on the charts.  Being fairly new in my covenant walk and not yet understanding, the gift of discernment, I tried to shake off that "knowing" that these nurses were basically saying the same thing the Nazi war criminals had said.

Through that same time I'd become friends with a doctor who was really wanting to expand into naturopathic treatments.  He said there was just too much high pressure sales pitching with pharmaceuticals, and not enough testing.  So, while he and I were spending a significant amount of time together discussing alternative modalities, I would hear the nurses in the office make statements that caused me to shudder.  They would tell patients, they just needed to follow the doctor's orders, which is fine, but it was the strange tone that I just couldn't shake off.  The nurses would also make statements that they "had to report such and such" or had no say in the situation, but were just conveying the information.  There was a disconnect of responsibility and compassion for the patient, that I continued to hear from various ones.  Not all of them, and I think that's what made it stand out all the more.  The ones who would answer questions or go back to get the doctor were truly in the minority.

I made the mistake of trusting the wrong people in 2001, and thankfully lived to tell about it, but I saw the system move quickly and actually stated their power to determine if I was able to care for myself and remain in my home alone with MS.  My friend that was a nurse was no help whatsoever, as she stated due to her profession, she couldn't get involved.  That was a real turning point in our friendship, although the relationship continued, I never tried to rely upon her again.  I was given the opportunity to stand in the gap on her behalf regarding her health, and I'm so glad I did for her what I wanted done for myself.  As for family . . . well, let's just say I don't discuss my health with family, at all.  They call it being secretive.  I call it, survival.  I truly do believe my Heavenly Father has created everything we need for optimum health.  So, I pray and use natural modalities.  I'm 57 and I don't feel fabulous every day, but most days I feel pretty stinkin' good and I don't suffer any side effects.  I can tell when rain is coming, but now with my Essentials and Extracts, once I realize the weather forecast, I can alleviate the pain.

I get a bit skeptical at the nurses who worked in abortion clinics for years, yet since the Gosnell trial have come out against Planned Parenthood and are telling gruesome account, upon gruesome account.  Why did it take a guilty verdict for them to see it was murder?  As I've watched parts of these recent videos, I see the emptiness in the eyes of these individuals who represent planned parenthood.  I've wondered if it's a void where a soul should be?  That's not to say, everyone in the health care field is evil.  What I am saying is our education system has programmed them, our society has respected it, and our government grants them the license to practice on society, what they have learned through the education system.  The good ones are getting out.

In my years behind the scenes as a visiting minister and as an alternative health practitioner, I have come to realize although some do get into nursing because of their compassion and desire to help people, the bottom line is, they work for the state who has issued their license.  Nursing is not what it was in Scripture or even 100 years ago.  Most of the actual hands on caregivers are those who are paraprofessionals, been vocationally trained or even received OJT.  For years now, it's been painfully obvious, the licensed professionals make the life and death decisions and process paperwork.  As health care becomes more powerful in our society, the laws of mandated health care will be a part of the judicial system.  Those who enter or remain in the health care field will be making the choice to, "just follow orders."

Brown

Here is a simple fact of life.  If you judge someone by the color of their skin, you're a very shallow individual and missing a great deal in life.  Racism is wrong, reverse racism is wrong.  We the people are being played the race card daily, and it's stacked against both blacks and whites.  Anyone who still believes a president of color is bringing unity is simply out of touch, much like Congress; for instance.  As a Native American, I'm not really part of the black/white issue, but I do have my own issues and I've been doing some serious soul searching on the matter.

Why we choose to carry the grudge of past generations remains unclear, other than perhaps, it somehow makes us less responsible for our own shortcomings.  I have to watch myself, although it does seem brown folks with no over the border accent get away with quite a bit of racism.  For instance:

I live in an area that is dense with casinos of the various Native American Nations.  It's an open statement when it comes to the white gamblers, "We are taking it back, one dollar at a time."  It's as if we get a pass on making an observation since we are brown.  Actually most of us, unless we are true blue bloods, have no idea what all is in our DNA.

My school days began before desegregation, by just a couple of years.  My first grade teacher referred to me as a "little colored girl."  My second grade teacher was openly bigoted, and on more than one occasion I was called the "n" word by fellow students.  The teacher didn't admonish them, so of course, I went home and told my mom.  Her response was, "You just tell them you're a little bit of everything."  That's when I learned about the "1 drop rule" . . .  Being Native American was obvious and a real point of pride on Daddy's side, so that was understood.  Through my years of education and well into my adult life, based on my mother's comment, I figured I had both European and African ancestry.  I identified as Native American (plus) and didn't identify black or white, but racial division was still very strong, so rather than being a little bit of everything, I wasn't anything . . . I could pass as most any ethnicity, but I was never viewed as white.  As times changed and I moved on, it really didn't make any difference.  I'm simply brown, but have realized I can be very disrespectful when I perceive white superiority or black victimhood.

To every white racist who generalizes folks of darker skin to be lazy, let's talk about lazy.  If your ancestors hadn't been too lazy to do their own work on their stolen land, there'd have been no African slaves.  Think about it.  We see it now with illegal immigration in factory farming and picking acres upon acres of produce.  In general, white Americans have really never wanted to actually work the land, just own it.  The settlement of this country was pretty much modeled after what they had escaped from Europe.  Basically, white European immigrants could become the aristocrats of the new world.  Take the Native's land and buy a few slaves to work it.

To those of enhanced melanin, you have to realize black also has privilege and often carries with it some power of intimidation.  Not all, but many blacks, especially the young people, seem easily offended by general terms.  I'm ever mindful to call a black youth, a young man, never a boy.  I don't give it a second thought about calling white kids or Latinos, boys.  I will never justify slavery or racial slurs, but by the same token we all have to admit it's okay in our society to have exclusionary black organizations which is also based upon race.  I would agree that there continues to be an air of "white privilege" but it's socially unacceptable to label it as such.  Reverse racism is socially acceptable and seemingly politically correct, but it really shouldn't be.

Now, I have one last observation for both blacks and whites, and a bit of advice.  The brown folk are gaining in population and now that a black president has been elected "they/we" will be the oppressed race.  There are two simple facts here that need to be pointed out.  One, President Obama and Dr. Ben Carson are proof it's really a matter of determination, rather than skin color and privilege.  Two, just because the first round of immigrants insisted upon changing the "complexion and culture;" this country was originally inhabited by brown folk living off the land . . .  If my people, the various Native tribes, had not been fighting amongst ourselves, and worked together to protect our land, history may have turned out quite differently.  It's just something to think about as the black/white racial division seems to actually be worsening, while the reality is: there are two generations of biracial brown folk, illegal immigrants from south of the border willing to do the work neither blacks nor whites want to do, and the casinos are sending my people a check every month.

The Court of Public Opinion

Justice has become little more than headlines.  We simply do not know, and many do not care, what the truth actually is.  In the special edition of the Goshen Gazette, remembering the assassination of President Kennedy, a somber fact persists all these years later.  A great many people simply aren't sure we believe the official record.  Lee Harvey Oswald was literally tried, judged, and executed in "the court of public opinion" in less than 48 hours.  Although, only one man pulled the trigger in that Dallas Police Department taking, Oswald's life, that was basically the end of the investigation.  There was no jury, no trial, and no official judgment; but a simple presumption of guilt and the case was closed by the verdict of Warren Commission.

By the time O. J. Simpson was standing trial for a double murder, courtroom drama was already a part of television programming.  Considering O.J. had been big in sports, even movies and advertising, it seemed almost "natural" that his trial would be televised.  What we seemed to overlook in the publicity of this televised trial is the fact that the public had already determined his guilt or innocence, based not upon facts and evidence, but rather race and fame.  I didn't want O.J. to have committed that horrendous act.  I wanted justice, not legal technicalities.  I remembered having such a schoolgirl crush on the Heisman trophy winner back in 1968.  I wanted to believe that O.J. was simply incapable of doing such a thing.  Although he was acquitted, there was still much more than a lingering doubt in regard to his innocence, but he also had been tried by the court of public opinion.

Scott Peterson was clearly tried by the court of public opinion, in that there was a movie made about the case before he even went to trial.  I do have many doubts about this conviction, right down to the fact Laci's disappearance made national news within hours.  A woman presumedly takes her dog for a walk while her husband is fishing, and she's not home when he gets back.  Within just a few hours, a police report is made, the search is organized, and by morning, it's national news.  There's no argument that Scott Peterson is a cad.  He's an adulterous jerk, but that doesn't necessarily make him a murderer.  I've always had a few questions about the massage therapist.  As a former funeral director who worked with several county coroners, the condition and separation of the bodies seemed questionable. Sentencing a man to death, based upon circumstantial evidence seems presumptuous and irresponsible.  The only "evidence" was a single strand of hair thought to be Laci's, in a pair of pliers on Scott's boat.  As a woman with long hair, strands of hair can appear in many unlikely places.  I certainly do not view Scott Peterson as a truthful human being of integrity, it's just hard to believe someone could commit a murder and leave absolutely no evidence, whatsoever.

Moving on to a more recent event, this past week the grand jury determined there was not enough evidence to bring charges against Officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown.  This situation was not only racially, but very, very politically divided and basically appeared to be orchestrated to ramp up tension and deeply divide the people.  There have been many incidents of police brutality, but the man had just stolen merchandise and had gotten a bit physical with the clerk, so there were enough variables to sort through without the racial issue and certainly without the Washington politicians getting involved.  It would appear to this journalist that the powers that be do recognize much is determined by the court of public opinion, and this is one more way to further divide the people.
