Finally . . . Change I Could Take Note Of

I read about the annual White House Correspondent's Dinner. That was the one event that I just thought George W. Bush always shined. That single event always made me want to throw a big barbecue and invite him. No matter how much I disagreed with the majority of his decisions, and just couldn't see his politics, I enjoyed the humorous, human side of him, as I read the press coverage and heard the radio reports after this dinner. Upon reading about the Obama White House Correspondent's Dinner, I realize now I see the change. I don't agree with a number of Obama's decisions and can't really embrace his politics, but his so called attempt at humor was sad and his apparent appreciation of beneath "common" entertainment, I find inappropriate for society in general, much less the White House. Not only is President Obama out of touch with the common folk, I find him to support a great deal of racism,, and he's simply not funny. George W. Bush would actually make sport of certain things going on his own life; his approval ratings, his speech pattern, etc. President Obama came across completely arrogant and aloof. I never heard President Bush turn the White House Correspondent's Dinner into a "roast" of politicians and pundits that were not in attendance. Maybe I'm not getting a clear picture or accurate report, but from what I've read from the media that supposedly promotes him, I'm less than impressed. At this point in his administration, after reading his so called humor and enjoyment of the event, the only thing that came to mind was "The Gong Show." Rather than some of the comments that I read that were made that evening, I think the sound of the gong would have been an improvement.

Books and Bullets

I don't particularly think these two subjects are connected, but these are two topics I want to address today, and we'll just see where this blog goes.
President Obama wants to make education more available to those that are on unemployment, as in going to school, not looking for work, and not losing their unemployment checks. What the article told me in reading about his plan is this: the jobs from which many have become "unemployed" are not coming back, so it's time for retraining. This plan would interconnect compensation with education, and divert the attention from the fact that employment opportunities are simply not available, so our President is ready to pay people to go to school.
Now, that's one issue.
The next one is slightly frightening and also an indication of the lack of hope. I thought "hope" was what we the people voted FOR! I've been following the availability of ammunition for certain guns. I don't think there will be tighter gun laws or prohibition of the 2nd amendment. Have all the guns you want, there just won't be any bullets . . . I have also noticed as people are speaking of guns and firearms, there is no lack of 30-30 ammo or 30-06, and for the most part shotgun shells remain available. The lack is in .380 and 38 Special ammo, which are hand guns and revolvers. It seems while everyone is talking about living off the land and surviving off of nature, if it "comes down to that," the ammo to hunt is not being stockpiled and remains readily available on the store shelves, while the ammo to "stop people" is what is in short supply.
So, in all this hope, why is there a shortage of ammo for guns that don't kill dinner, but rather, guns that kill people?

Simple Advice Through This Depressing Recession

We're all reading so many headlines that give conflicting information about our economy. One day it's better because it's not dropping so fast, the next week it's worse in other areas than first expected. What we know is this. We are Americans and our leadership operates completely in debt and we've accepted this as our way of life. I know so many people that are "one payment away" from getting on the right path. This is going to sound like a sermon or parental advice, and maybe it's a little of both! You know, we just have to drop it all and get on the right path, then pick up the pieces and pay for the broken mess, one piece at a time. Don't borrow any more, don't spend anything on anything unnecessary, and first and foremost we need to get back to giving G~D what HE expects, which is the first portion of our income. And here's the good news, HE doesn't even expect anywhere close to the percentage we pay in taxes! I heard more about this economy looking up later in the year, and that projection is based upon more spending!!! They don't get it yet, and "they" will continue to encourage the people to spend and borrow and borrow and spend, because it's really pretty simple. As the government begins to be a major shareholder in banks and big business, like say GM and Freddie and Fannie, the people that are indebted will literally be in bondage. This is getting closer to reality than we think. While we're arguing over credit cards and political parties, we're entering slavery to our own materialism and instant gratification.
We've got to just stop spending what we don't have, as individuals and as a nation.

So, Now it Appears to Just Depend Upon One's Perspective

Well this economic crisis certainly is "spell binding" now isn't it! One week, everything is bleak and unexpectedly worse, and the next week, it's leveling off, or at least not plummeting so drastically. I find it particularly ironic that Ben Bernanke now says the economic horizon is looking up, because it's not declining as rapidly as it was. I've been thinking about all this and all these "latest and most insightful perspectives" and I've arrived at this conclusion, which is a question. What if the hay day is simply over and the economic decline is slowing because "we the people" realize this is the reality of the new millennium and the results of years of "blame and diversion" administrations. What if the economic decline is a result of the fact that the boomers were right early on, and the materialistic establishment is the road to destruction? Remember the ad "Chevy, the heartbeat of America?" So with Chevy being our heartbeat, does that mean with the potential government take over or forced bankruptcy, that America is about to go flat-line? Oh, but that can't be, because TPTB say it's going to get better after it gets worse. Isn't that kind of like saying, "It will feel so good when it quits hurting?"
I'm not buying into it and I'm not investing in these promises. I really think it just depends upon where you are standing as you view the situation, and if I were in a government position, I think I'd be wanting "the people" to believe it was going to get better. As an itinerant minister and blogger, I don't think "a better economy" is on it's way, but I'm guessing the reference: "a better economy," is about to be redefined!
All these are the beginning of sorrows. New Testament

A New Supreme Court Justice to be Appointed

Well, the debate should heat up over the next couple of months. I can hear it now! So many in America will be thrilled that President Obama will be appointing a new justice, all ready, in his presidency. But there is a group that would rather President Obama did not have that power just now. I, think, as usual, the timing is just really interesting. Justice Souter isn't even 70 years old. I didn't know Supreme Court Justices retired at all, except for extreme health issues. The rest of us will have to work long after 70 . . . I did a bit of research about his fame for the decision regarding Eminent Domain and I didn't realize how that vote went down. Seems Sandra Day O'Connor agreed with Justices Thomas, Rehnquist, and Scalia, but were outnumbered by the others. All I remember hearing at the time, though was Souter's vote and of course the usual gripes about Ruth Bader Ginsburg's politics. We need to remember, fellow Americans. Each Justice is allowed only one decision per case. Until now, seven justices have been appointed by Republican presidents. So, the reality is, if the Supreme Court was going to change the laws about abortion, or reduce federal government in our lives, or protect small business, we'd have seen the evidence long before now. It simply isn't going to happen. Now, when President Obama appoints someone to replace Justice Souter, who by the way has been a disappointment to the expectations of republicans, the Supreme Court really will not change that drastically. Once the President makes a choice, which we know will have no problems for approval by Congress; of the nine Justices, there will be only 3 appointed by a democrat president. And even if this individual, probably a woman, were to be the most far left leaning person on the planet. Even if this person made a communist socialist seem conservative, they will offer only one opinion out of 9. Now, if two or three more "retire" that may appear suspect, but no one has ever known what to expect out of Souter, and we'll have a pretty good idea going in, as to the perspective of Obama's choice.

Coincidence? Timing?

It seems the last few American presidents had really big plans when they moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Perhaps that's because the last two Presidents and the current occupant of the White House are basically career politicians. In the past, men that were elected to the Oval Office had a life outside of politics and campaigning. Many were businessmen, the early ones, and President Carter were farmers, but these last three gentlemen are simply politicians with a degree in something. So maybe that's why they have such huge plans for all of us. We know that President Obama came into the White House fully planning to reorganize our nation's health care, and in less than two weeks after his visit to Mexico, our nation's health may be facing a crisis, never before seen since modern medicine. I'm guessing he'll get his health care reform. He gets everything else he wants and the republicans don't even have to cross party lines, as a matter of fact, they are so outnumbered, their votes against are irrelevant. Don't you love the way our new President has focused on being bipartisan? Actually it's more like uni-partisan in Washington these days. One party takes all! This health crisis and health care agenda is reminding me of the days after 9/11 and how quickly the USA Patriot Act was signed into law, and yet by 2003 our President announced he wasn't concerned where bin Laden even was. I'm just sure it was our utter disgust and exhaustion with one administration that ushered in the nest one. It happened in 2000 and again in 2008. I just can't help but notice the coincidence of the crisis in relation to the agenda and the timing of it all.
The anger of YHVH hath divided them; He will no more regard them . . . Holy Scripture

Swine Flu

Okay, I know it's in the news everywhere, so I won't make this blog lengthy at all. I have a question and I am not reading the answer anywhere. Since much of the world has decided to go ahead and eat pork and have huge pig farms and trust medicine for the problems that will ensue from that, the scientific community has already dealt with swine flu in 1976. Why, then, are we so supposedly unprepared for this?
I specifically remember being told that year to get a flu shot against the swine flu, but I didn't. So if we had a shot for swine flu in 1976, what did we do with it? Surely in all of our scientific research and pharmaceutical progress, somebody wrote down the formula!
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of YHVH thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am YHVH that healeth thee.

Eloquent Speaker, but Passive Divider

In reading the number of headlines about President Obama's first 100 days, I have to say, I'm not really intrigued enough to scroll through the articles. I don't care how popular he is or isn't, he's got the job for another 3 years and roughly nine months. And clearly he's been busy. It just seems, if all goes as planned, who'll need to ever make another decision again? He's got the auto industry by the rivets, the bankers under surveillance, and relocating the war from Iraq to Afghanistan and all the while just talking as smoothly around the world as if he were on some sort of global campaign trail. And now some sort of pandemic health scare, with under 100 confirmed cases of swine flu, out of 6 billion people, we'll have all of our attention on that and I' wondering what else will be passed into law. Surely this will speed along the socialized medicine. It is interesting that he promised bipartisan politics, once he got to Washington, but as far as I can tell, the republicans are their usual hard to get along with selves, and he simply doesn't care. They can be as belligerent as they want in their minority standing. I still won't forget reading a quote, just days after our eloquent new leader took office, when he told them "I won." I don't know if it's because I'm past 50, or because I've seen the handwriting on the wall, or a grandma concerned about the next generations, but I'm not happy about the direction of this nation and although I realize our current administration did not set the direction, he's certainly going full speed ahead. I see Washington politics as a relay race and we the people are simply choosing to be bystanders. We just watch as the baton is passed back and forth between the runners taking it by the right hand or the left. While we are watching the partisan parade yet again, which is not real division at all; we are becoming more divided in our country and the leaders divided from the people.
Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Accountability and Transparency

If I weren't actually living under this outrageous definition of accountability and "transparency," maybe I'd find it funny. And I really did want my generation to change the world, because what we inherited when we came of age, wasn't all that spiffy. I wanted the young people that would follow us to enjoy freedom and a future, not be saddled with obligation and debt. But now, it's the men of my generation still catering to the previous generations at the expense of the following generations. And they call it accountability because they are doing it to us right in front of us, so therefore it's "transparent." Great! It's still not what I had planned to leave as a legacy. I've been following the economists predictions and the headlines regarding the bank stress test. Now the economists of Goldman Sachs and J P Morgan Chase are giving a better report than they thought a couple of months ago. Really? Have these two corporations replaced their economists, since last September, when the need for a TARP came as a shock to most of America? Are these different guys or the same ones that either missed it, before, or simply kept it under their hats? And let's talk about some transparency, in our government. I remember when GW threw that around. I didn't like it then, I'm not interested at all in hearing it quoted by the man that promised change. Why is everyone falling for this. The "transparency" mantra is left over from the last administration. And oh, by the way . . . The money that President Bush authorized for Goldman Sachs, well they are doing better now, and want to repay, but President Obama won't accept the repayment.
I think things are transparent enough that everyone should be able to see, the change was nothing more than the baton from one hand to the next. If the same corporations are telling us the recession is slowing down, then I'm guessing it's going to get worse. Or the government has everything just about in place for total control, which is actually both. While we're all about accountabiilty and transparency, and debating TARPs and BailOut, and disputing whether we're headed for communism or fascism, the real direction is becoming quite obvious. We're headed for totalitarianism and American politicians are vying for who will be at the top, when it goes global.
If any man have an ear, let him hear. the Revelation

Tolerance is so Very Special

I first read the story on AP but FOXNews is still yammering on the subject. It's about Miss California and the fact that she was runner up in the Miss USA Pageant. The reason is because the gay judge asked her if she was for or against same sex marriage. I, personally, hope someone along the line sees the irony in this. First, I had to laugh at Shanna Moakler's comments. She had pretty much promoted Carrie through the competition, then in all of her gay rights tolerance, she didn't even speak to her after the pageant or congratulate on being runner up. In all of her tolerance, she's had no problem speaking against her and about her, though. The real hoot is the fact that she said Miss California should represent the majority. Seems I just read that same sex marriage just lost on the California ballot. Maybe Shanna needs to spend a little time on other current events besides the pageant. You know, with all the pro gay tolerance, why limit the pageant to just women? I've seen some very sharp looking cross-dressers!
I don't understand how in the name of so called tolerance, so many want to rob others of their free speech. I applaud Carrie Prejean on her boldness and her honesty. I disagree with her calling this situation a test from G~D, though. I believe it's an opportunity. I think by now, more of America knows who she is than the girl that won. Seems these harsh statements being made and the attempt to rob her of her first amendment rights, may just be a blessing of much more than a tiara. I can't remember the last time I even knew who the reigning, crowned Miss USA was, but I remember this lovely young lady and her name, and I think she'll be famous for years to come, without the scandal usually associated with the few memorable Beauty Queens.
Whether someone agrees or disagrees with her statement, a person shouldn't have to give up their rights as an American citizen to win. I personally agree with her statement, although I don't think marriage should be sanctioned by the government at all. I think it's a religious ceremony and Thomas Jefferson was pretty clear about keeping religion and government separate.
My congratulations to Miss USA. My applause, respect, and congratulations to Carrie.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey G~D rather than men. Acts of the New Testament

Big Budget Change from Barack

I realize, that's President Obama to we citizens, but I used G.W. and George I or George II, so Barack it is for today. He's meaning business, now on this budget tightening and slashing spending. Why, he's already got ideas to cut $100 million worth of programs that he says are not serving the people. Okay, finally, we have some figures from Washington that most of us can relate to. 100M relates to 3.5 trillion in this manner. 100,000,000 - 3,500,000,000,000. See, it's going to be so easy to understand now! Slashing the same number of zeros is the simplest way to break down this budget that our leaders believe to be too complicated for we the people. Do you suppose politicians just think we're stupid, because we vote for them? Now, back to our math. Removing 8 zeros from each figure gets this into the ball park most of us are dealing in. President Obama is fully determined and full speed ahead to reduce spending by 1/35,000. That's right! What bold and brave change this man speaks of and leads! So in simple citizen terms, this man has promised to save us $1 out of every $35K spent in Washington. So, for the person making $35,000.00 a year, that amounts to saving $1.00. For those earning $70,000.00 that would be a whopping $2.00 in the bank at the end of the year! Or in the case of Washington, a payment towards the interest on the trillions of debt, already counting and mounting. If I understand political economics at all. What he is proposing to save, won't even touch the interest payment on the national deficit, if it's figured at .25%. And the budget he has proposed will further increase the deficit right along with the interest due. I never thought more money was the answer, but if this is the best we can do to reduce spending, we're still just digging the hole deeper.
In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten Me, saith Adonai YHVH. a Prophet of Holy Scripture

I Want to be a Serious Blogger

So, I guess I need to change topics. American politics reads like a bad comic book. I can't even take my subject matter seriously, it's gotten too ridiculous. From what I read, Congress is discussing changing the tax code, changing health care, and still never figured out how to track the free money they just threw at the banks and Wall Street. The tax debate has been ongoing for years, and now suddenly there is a bill to discuss? I read somewhere a "fair tax" or "consumption tax." I find that disgusting. I'm tired of being called a consumer by retailers, I sure don't want the government getting comfortable using that term. When dealing with our government, I prefer the term, "citizen!" Considering the fact, if the government becomes our health care coverage provider, then we all are on federal medicare or medicaid and the private insurance companies start hiking the house and car insurance to stay in business. And, there will be far fewer doctors because that won't be enough money for them to make, but there will be more nurse practitioners, because, well because they like authority. And the "fair tax" or consumption tax amounts to nothing more than a federal sales tax on our purchases. If the government can actually take in more money collecting on sales, rather than income, clearly we are spending more than we are earning . . . Do the math! All we have to do is look at the American economy to see that doesn't add up!

Tea, Anyone?

Well, it looks like the GOP may be replaced with TEA. I don't know if the GOP got diluted or just soured, but TEA may be a refreshing change of pace for the conservatives, or just a fun distraction for awhile. Everyone likes to think they are making a difference. And the GOP followers are the easiest to convince they are doing something unique and powerful and RIGHT. They like that sort of programing. And so, in both name and the fashion of the Boston Tea Party, this new national platform is being presented and promoted. On one hand, I do see the correlation. The colonists dressed up as Indians and threw the tea over in protest of taxes. Now, we have disgruntled members of the GOP dressed up as movers and shakers and using TEA for an acronym in protest of taxes. I guess it took them awhile to come up with this, since it didn't happen when all the banks and big business got their party money. According to Glen Beck, it wasn't organized or orchestrated, just people all on the same page, doing the same thing. Well, okay, if Glen says so, but I heard him talking about it, before it ever happened, mentioning cities and places, and contacts. If that isn't organizing and orchestrating, I don't know what you'd call it. I read someone had compared this so called "grass roots movement" to astro-turf. Genuine? I think they do want the power back, and they know the last administration blew it big time for all the things the GOP supposedly stands for. And I do know, many Americans would rather keep the banks going, than have more government programs. So, maybe the same people will orchestrate the same agenda with a new name, and now that the government will own banks and business, the people will rally to the "new" party never realizing, it's the SOP, Same Old Politics. There is no party of smaller government. And this government is huge with a voracious appetite. It's already eating our great grandchildren's lunch! So let's all have TEA!

I Find It Amazing

As to how much President Obama sounds like former President Bush. I truly expected a little more difference, at least at first. Oh, I know he's more popular, but then so was G.W. right after he took office. President Obama sounds exactly like G.W. regarding North Korea. He's approached the NATO allies about troops for Afghanistan. I realize that isn't Iraq, but he's really aiming at Pakistan, anyway. I feel like we are seeing the same shell and marble game, as before. He wants a two state solution for the Palestinians and Israel. I still don't understand the situation that Turkey needs to be part of the EU. I think over 95% of Turkey is in Asia. I never understood what the big deal was when G.W. pushed for it, but now that Obama is, I'm sure it is a concealed big deal and I would like to know why. He said something about the example of democracy and free trade. Well, Turkey doesn't have to be part of the EU to have a voice and be counted. America isn't part of the EU and we have democratic free trade. Our President said something about making it possible for Turkey to sell to other countries in the EU. Again, it doesn't require membership in the EU to be a part of NATO, buy and sell goods, so what gives? Both of these men have been rather vague and secular about their religion, but make rather general references to Christianity, and they both have proclaimed Islam to be a religion of peace. They both throw huge amounts of money around and have increased the deficit by trillions. I think what I find the most amazing and similar is the arrogance with which both of these men have virtually told the rest of the world to snap to and pay attention. It's as if they both feel President of the United States is somehow more like President of the world.
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. New Testament

News and Information

I heard this morning about N. Korea's launch of something. They say it's a satellite, but their non-allies think otherwise. Even if it's a satellite, that means they are capable of launching other things . . . As I listened to the story being reported, I heard the distinct comment regarding what the people in N. Korea, Russia, and China heard about this launch. The inference was that the people in N. Korea, Russia, and China were probably only hearing the part their government wanted them to hear. As I laid there in bed in the pre-dawn hours, thinking about that, I couldn't help but ponder our very own news sources, who for the most part all sound a great deal like they are working for the Enquirer. So much American news appears to be nothing more than gossip and fear mongering. I wondered what other countries were thinking of America's news sources and information. Now, we think we have complete access to all the news, but we choose our bias with which we listen. Well, if we all acknowledge there is a bias, except those that listen to FOX, isn't that an admission that we are not receiving the full picture of the news? If there's bias, then there is editorializing, and anytime news is editorialized, information is presented and overlooked according to the one seeking and the one reporting. How can we be so sure we are getting all the information and untainted here in America, when we already reject various news sources?
I consider the book of Proverbs when obtaining news and information. I want to know what is really going on. I don't just seek the information I want to hear, or what I agree with. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. a Proverb of Holy Scripture

Up In Smoke

Well, the smokers have been declared, officially, "the lepers of the 21st Century!" I remember when I still smoked over 15 years ago, a group of us standing outside some establishment calling ourselves "lepers." What I find offensive, as a former smoker, is I at least had the right to choose to be considered "unclean." Now, the rights are being removed, and we have a President that smokes! I remember how cranky I got when I was quitting. The world just doesn't need any extra aggression right now. And there better not be any smoking in the family quarters of the White House, it still belongs to US! It seems odd that one particular tobacco company is actually supporting this cigarette ban. Oh, I know, it isn't really a ban on smoking, it's just that cigarettes are now about 50 cents apiece and there's a recession, joblessness, and foreclosures everywhere, making it not an easy time to try quitting, but needing to. It's almost like with this timing, it is meant to be stressful! But then I find President Obama and this Congress to be particularly stressful and I'm not a republican! Now, I realize the dollar will soon be going up in smoke, as well. We're headed for a global currency and the G20 doesn't seem so impressed with our monopoly money, so I think we can see where this is probably going. And the laws! I think some of America's laws are a bit ridiculous, but they are the laws of this land, and now we're talking international everything . . . International laws will certainly place the Constitution "up in smoke." We need to get a hold of this or drop out of this or something. We just sat there, applauding the last 8 years as the Bill of Rights went "up in smoke." I'm thinking with this much up in smoke, we're getting burned.
And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, the Revelation

Garden Czar

Rosa DeLauro is the official so concerned about our "food safety" that she has introduced a bill before the House that will protect us from what is growing . . . And give the authorities the right to check it out anytime! Now, it doesn't specifically say that we little guys will have to get a license to buy a package of seeds, but it did mention "farm and agriculture" quite freely. It's of course very complex and comprehensive in nature. Isn't all legislation? So many pages of so many words that always leave loopholes to be closed or redefined at the discretion of the power. I am not shy about the axe I have to grind with NAIS and I've singled Monsanto out in my last book, "the Threshold of Technocracy," with their genetic engineering and modification. I wrote this book before the official financial collapsing of GM, but mentioned that it wouldn't be long before GM no longer just stood for General Motors, but genetic modification, regarding our food. Well, I stumbled upon an interesting fact today. General Motors and Monsanto are both clients of the same political strategist, and he just happens to be married to Rosa DeLauro. So, if Rosa's bill passes, I'm sure her husband's client, Monsanto, will be the first and last one, applauding.
And G~D said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed . . . And G~D saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. Torah of Holy Scripture

Is Big Brother Becoming a Bully?

I'd have to answer that question with a YES! You know, you just can't trust a bully and you never know who or what he's going to go after next. We are all aware of the cameras over the stop lights in many communities now. Remember what they were "originally" supposed to be for? Or at least what we were told. The cameras were supposed to be there for safety, for monitoring the traffic flow, so if the timing needed to be changed, it could be. Well, BB has come a long way baby. BB is short for Big Brother, as I'll be using it throughout the blog. In many cities, tickets can now be sent through the mail for running those red lights with cameras sitting over them. And once some of the cities have seen that revenue, more ideas have come to the table. Seems Red lights are making city government see "green!" An insurance company, an arm of BB says the camera at the intersection can also run the plates and uninsured motorists can be fined through the mail. So far, the only bright spot of BB becoming so big is there will be fewer Barney Bad-butt traffic cops. Obviously the importance of many laws is not for our protection, but rather for government revenue, which brings me to the next sign of bullying. Even with all the federal funding we the people are providing, and the federal government is offering to the states, it seems the states need more money. Through taxation is the plan. Trillions of dollars of debt into the next three generations just isn't enough. So they are going to tax, tax, tax. We will see the cigarette tax tomorrow, and Kentucky is thinking of hiking the price of bourbon with taxes. Don't need prohibition, who can afford the taxes in the recession? New York was at one time going to have a tax for everything, fat, thin, golf, skiing, you name it. I haven't read about a tax for breathing yet, but . . . give 'em time. I kind of chuckled when I read that the legal brothels in Nevada were considering adding a state tax per "transaction." This would change the tax laws from an actual purchase to taxing services. Then what's next? There's always been a difference on any bill between parts and labor, merchandise and service. Once they tax brothel transactions, it's just a matter of time before the doctor will add tax, the beautician will add tax, and the undertaker will add tax.
Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days it shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle. a prophet of Holy Scripture

Special Edition!

Well, it would appear that a certain Senator wants to offer the Newspapers some assistance, courtesy of the tax payers. This touches more than just my wallet. His plan is to offer a bail out to the newspapers, and allow them to go "non-profit." In order for any entity to gain "non-profit" status, they must abide by a few political rules. One is, they cannot endorse a particular candidate, and they have to watch the way certain views are expressed, as well as avoiding certain hot button politically correct issues. Basically, I would say, this Senator wants to eliminate the First Amendment. If the government can do to the newspapers what it did to religious organizations, our information will be silenced, except of course, what Big Brother wants us to think. Only the programing will get through this filter. So far, this Senator isn't garnering much support, but clearly it is on the table and the idea has been presented. It's only a matter of time until our Congress manages a way to reword it, or add it to some other bill and without any fanfare . . . the presses will be bound and gagged.
. . . and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen . . . history in Holy Scripture

Peace

So often my perspective is rather negative in this blog and today I'm going for a more positive or at least a less negative post. It is, however; going to take me a few negative comments to get there. I was very disappointed in the re-election of Bill Clinton in 1996. I never did figure out how he got the backing of the Unions and the Teamsters when he signed NAFTA into being, not to mention how much outsourcing began to take place through his administration. Then there was the disappointment of the 2000 election. Not that I wanted Gore, I was truly hopeful that a third party could be elected in this new millennium, and that was the golden opportunity, but it simply didn't happen. Now the third parties are barely even holding enough political clout to be on the ballot. By 2004, I just thought America had decided to be dumb and aggressive for life, and completely unquestioningly loyal. It was through 2004, though, that I did notice the next plan, and sure enough, Barack Obama was on the national scene in no time. Now, I didn't vote for him, I'm completely unimpressed with his plan and direction, but he is the president and it is through his administration that I have come to peace with what America is and the fact I have no say about it. He has proposed a 3.6 Trillion Dollar budget, debt, whatever to pull us out of a recession, calling it an investment. "This budget is inseparable from this recovery because it is what lays the foundation for a secure and lasting prosperity," Obama said. Clearly this guy aced public speaking, but I don't know where he was for math class. I truly don't want anyone that doesn't know the difference between going into debt and investing to make my financial decisions, but he is. I appreciate the fact that republicans are now concerned about the debt we are leaving to our grandchildren, because they already know our grandchildren will still be paying for the Iraq war. I'm concerned that our "new owners" won't be so nice to us and I hate, simply hate the fact that our nation has continued to dig the debt hole deeper for the next generation, calling it progress, but all these guys know is what they were taught growing up. It's not easy, knowing, politicians cannot and will not make it better, but they will continue to exert authority over us. And so I am making the only choice I truly have control over, the choice to trust G~D and be at peace with that decision.
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. a Prophet of Holy Scripture

Okay, This is the Solution . . .

I've never read about or heard so much confidence in every move that's made, and yet, more upon more continues to be needed. I think this economic solution of printing money and selling bonds to foreign nations is ridiculous. The only people that are not benefiting by this Obama plan are the same ones that did not benefit when Bush started the war in Iraq, the average American grandchild. We have the ultra rich maintaining and even some making money and of course, other countries are making money or at least holding something they can collect on, but not the average American and certainly not the average American's children and grandchildren. They are going to be paying for all these "sure fire fixes" long after we've all lived out a normal life expectancy. I am glad they are backing down on that 90% tax business, as we all know, our government's one time tax legislation never sunsets, it only expands to other levels. I'm amazed at the number of people that are still ignorantly trusting this new administration, as it has already spent as much as most of us were griping about Bush spending. Debt is debt, and forty years from now, nobody will care which side of the aisle caused the debt, the collection thereof, will be exacted by another sovereign power, anyway. Selling our debt to another nation, enslaves us, pure and simple. And while our government officials want to crack down on bankers and insurers for doing a lousy job and I would agree with their assessment, I have yet more assessment to offer. Our legislators aren't doing such a whiz bang job and they haven't been for several years. I think it's time to fire them all, stop the life long perks and get real people on Capitol Hill. We don't need all the money to campaign, the internet is cheap and we can get a grass roots movement happening. Let's get real people to Washington and get the current mess gone, along with their lobbyist buddies. I didn't like it when Nixon started making long range promises to China, I didn't like it when Clinton and Walmart sold us out to China. I didn't approve of Bush selling us out to Saudi oil and Iraq reconstruction, and I do not appreciate the man of hope and audacity selling us out to all of the above and turning Afghanistan and Pakistan into VietNam. Confidence in a proposal that really doesn't resolve the issue is just cockiness and arrogance. I didn't appreciate it all the other times it arrived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and I don't appreciate it now. Our current President is confident in his ability to express and incite confidence in him!

the Death Penalty

I realize, we here in America, do not consider ourselves on the level of other nations in which the "heathens" execute in all sorts of unconscionable methods. I've heard a number of people get all up the air about the beheadings in the Middle Eastern countries, apparently forgetting about Henry VIII and let us not forget what the first Queen Elizabeth ordered done to her cousin Mary. The death penalty is hideous. Granted murder is hideous, which is what makes the death penalty such a paradox. As far as I know, only a nation that is a Bible based Theocracy has the G~D instructed right and responsibility to carry out the death penalty. America doesn't qualify any more than Saudi Arabia does. Now, the reason for this rant, is the headline I read today about the guy that started a couple of wildfires in California, in which five fire fighters lost their lives. I've served as chaplain to both fire and police departments and the loss of life by someone trying to protect others is particularly heart wrenching, so I understand the high level of emotion associated with this particular case. I would like to point out just a couple of facts regarding the death penalty, however. First degree murder must be proven to be premeditated, and if these fires were set where no human life was directly in the path, that would negate the premeditation factor. The fact that only the firefighters lost their lives, although tragic, pretty much proves these fires were not aimed in an area of human habitation. I read that three of them died trying to keep an unoccupied house from being destroyed, with two more dying later from that same situation, again indicates, although the fire may have been intentional, the deaths, were not. Considering the number of intentional murders committed in this country, every week, I find this just a point to ponder and question. Granted, I realize, I'm a bleeding heart on the subject of the death penalty, but even the staunch supports would be hard pressed to actually prove the deaths that took place as a result of this particular arson, to have been pre-meditated. If the capital punishment supporters are going to claim execution, to be their Biblical right, perhaps we should also consider cities of refuge for those that are slayers, without premeditation.
Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

New and Improved FDA and Health Care . . .

We can all expect our government to be right in the middle of our kitchen and our doctor's appointments! And is there a collective YAY? We are so rich here in America in the middle of a self-made recession, that our President is going to give us new and improved food tasters! We're all going to live like royalty and nothing will pass our lips without first being tested for goodness, and not to worry, if there are any problems, everyone will have government provided health care. I know I'm all excited about this. I don't go to doctors and I raise my own food. I'm not thrilled with the concept of food and drug czars telling me that aspartame is acceptable to ingest and genetically modified food is both delectable and healthy. And I really don't even want to deal with the insurance enforcement that will be appointed, once the universal health care arrives. I made up my mind a few years back, as all of this coming down the pike was becoming obvious, that I was going to at least give warning and offer an alternative. I told my husband, if it's up to me, our grandchildren will not receive a health care chip and they will not starve, and as for our kids that think we're idiots in the wilderness, I'll still make sure they get a package of seeds. It will be my religious and simple basic version of the TARP. Interestingly, my lifestyle which is now the alternative, was the original plan.
O taste and see that YHVH is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. a Psalm of Holy Scripture

Political Posturing

I believe that's what it's called when someone introduces something to see the reaction and response. Although they are vying for a position of leadership, this wannabe leader is actually looking for the signs from the crowd. The wannabe leader, without great risk to their personal aspirations, does what the crowd wants to see, or says what the crowd wants to hear . . . Kind of runs something up the flagpole to see who salutes, so to speak . . . Sarah Palin is the best example I can give regarding political posturing. She hit the hot button topic, "life" and ran with it every way she could, first and foremost as a conservative, then as a past forty mom with a special needs baby, right down to raising her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend to fame and "fortune" through the Republican National Convention, all because her daughter and he chose to practice unsafe sex. Now, is that just priceless or what? The same women that would gossip and point fingers in the local community, stood and applauded Bristol and her mom, standing behind her. I don't know why I'm so unimpressed, it really was a tactical feat and quite the political strategy. I know from personal experience, single teen age moms didn't used to get the support this one has. I told my husband when I saw the photo-ops, they weren't going to make it to a summer wedding. If Bristol and friend actually planned to marry, they would have before the baby came. I mean this is the party and thinking of: "shotgun weddings are atonement for fornication." And not that I am suggesting the solution from Torah, either, but it did get me thinking. In Bible times, when these unmarried women were "caught in the act of fornication or adultery," and pregnancy would be "caught," they were stoned. What happened to the unborn child? hmmm. . . Just one of those, I never thought about it deals. I find it the most curious, that it is usually, at least it was for me, those that did the proper thing and trapped some guy, tend to be the most judgmental toward a woman that just realizes her mistake and chooses to not "make it right" with another mistake. That is not to say, to choose to have the baby is a mistake, but rather, the circumstances and the other person involved are often a matter of poor judgment. I have no idea what I think of Bristol Palin, because I think she's been elevated to stardom for basically no reason, other than her mom needed a great prop at the time, and the pro-life crowd got all excited. I don't think they'll be quite so excited when they realize the "right and proper choice" has been called off. I am glad, and I do speak from experience, that through all of this, the young, single moms, are treated with more civility, but still that dropping out of school and teen-age motherhood have not become something to actually admire. And just out of curiosity, since Levi wasn't so excited, after all, big surprise!; and they weren't married, just who did foot the bill on this blessed event?
The integrity of the upright shall guide them . . . a Proverb of Holy Scripture

Fifty Days . . .

I knew this President was going to turn as soon as he got in, but I really didn't expect him to be so "in our face" about it. I'm really more unimpressed than I expected to be. There's just nothing like charisma going rancid, is there? And I'm going to ask again. Where's the "change?" So far the biggest change I've noticed is the change in him, between his campaign promises and his actual decisions as President. Funny, everything he's doing is exactly what he said was wrong with Washington. I was hoping it would take him a little longer to act like a Washington insider, but then again, I guess you don't get the address of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, you're not already an insider. You can't get "elected" if you actually do take a stand against political corruption and keep your campaign promises. This bill that he's signing is exactly what he said he was going to put an end to. Remember, he was going to end earmarks and political pork. We are supposed to know he means what he says, because he says this is the last time . . . Just one more thing he said, to get what he wanted and now "we the people, all have to understand, it's not going to happen overnight." Oh, I understand, all right. You know, I bet those little girls of his don't have their puppy, yet, either. I wondered that when he won after the election and suddenly the "choosing of the first dog, was going to take research" and apparently months. They could have had it and had it house broken and doing a few tricks, between November 4th and January 20th. I guess a guy that can make a promise to his kids and then stall on the delivery, isn't going to worry about what he promised a bunch of strangers that are stuck with this decision for four years.

MADOFF

This will be a short blog today, because I just can't really elaborate. Seems Bernard Madoff will be pleading guilty and planning on spending the rest of his life in prison on some really huge charges! I don't understand why he's decided to do this, but perhaps his conscience finally got the best of him. I would think, he would have been able to drag this out in court for several years. And I can't imagine finding a jury that didn't already have some opinion of a Wall Street Financier living large at other's expense. Oh, that's right, they all do don't they? Well, I was kind of surprised to see that he had chosen this route, thinking he would have some high dollar Philadelphia lawyer managing to come up with a mistrial or acquittal or something, even though the evidence is overwhelming. Sometimes the incredibly obvious simply eludes us. I realized the correlation with Bernard Madoff's name, when this story broke.

It's Only Money

The stimulus plan is doing just what I expected . . . absolutely nothing. The stock market is plummeting, the unemployment is rising, and President Obama says he "inherited" this mess. Well, NO President Obama did not inherit this mess. Granted President Bush authored a similar stimulus plan and undoubtedly, the economy has been tanking for some time, but my argument with President Obama is in the use of the word "inherit." He campaigned to have this position. He collected millions upon millions of hard earned tax dollars to have this position, to give away more millions upon millions of hard earned tax dollars. He spent two years of what should have been a Senate term, trying to get this position, only to resign his half completed Senate term. And now, the hard working Americans that have invested in America, rather than collect for themselves, like politicians are bearing the brunt of this mess and he has the audacity to cry, "he inherited this mess." Oh, no, Mr. President, you promised Hope for this mess. You said you recognized that this was a mess, and you said, you had a plan to resolve this mess. I, personally, don't want to hear any more whining about you and what you are up against. The American people have battled more than you could ever imagine and there are many hard working Americans that didn't deserve to lose their jobs and their savings and their retirement accounts, Mr. President. You see, your retirement account is nice and safe, Mr. President. And you don't have to worry about mortgage foreclosure, Mr. President. And you, Mr. President, have no more idea what it is to live the average American existence than the last President. But while we are on the subject, I would like to know how the Bush family investments are holding up in the stock market fluctuation. And I would like to know how the Clinton's cattle futures are doing. And it would be great if the Supreme Court and the Congress had some idea of what "we the people are going through" between imminent domain and outrageous taxation for bailouts for those that are too big to fail. As I see it, it's the American tax payer that someone should recognize and protect from failing, since it's the American tax payer that is making it possible for politicians to never have to actually put in an honest day's work.
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? New Testament

What Does The First Bipartisan Effort Mean to We The People?

Government health for all! Every time our government gets both sides of the aisle together on an issue, I know "we the people" are going to pay, and pay dearly. Our President wants us to have as good a health care system as Congress, and he wants all those that lose their jobs to have coverage. Maybe Congress just needs the same health coverage as the general population, and maybe members of Congress shouldn't be so confident in their employment security. I do know, our government is planning to "meet all our needs" and from the last two stimulus plans, our government also appears to be planning to create "all our needs." If this health plan comes to fruition by the end of the year, I shudder to think how quickly everyone will be required to receive their medical micro-chip. It probably won't be over night. The Department of Health and Human Resources and the Ad Council will need some time to design the delusion to convince the general trusting population that the medical chip isn't really the mark of the beast. Although, I do think children should receive the same quality of care that the elders in their families have "earned," it doesn't seem that the elderly want to share their socialized medicine with the younger generations, and as for those of us who do not want medical care at the hands of humans at all, I'm not looking forward to a mandatory, universal, socialized health system. I've truly found a better way!
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of YHVH thy G~D, and wilt do that which is right in HIS sight, and wilt give ear to HIS commandments, and keep all HIS statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am YHVH that healeth thee.

The Definition of an Emergency

I've been particularly annoyed as of late over the requirements for 911 and since 9/11, and then today an event in the news just inspired me to go ahead a blog away. We looked at some land and made inquiry as to the cost and procedure for having a septic tank dug. The very first thing we were told was that a permit was required from the health department. I thought . . . and if we decide a septic tank isn't worth the bureaucratic red tape, isn't a privy or cess pool going to make a bigger health issue? I personally think all the emergency association with 911 is nothing more than a lack of faith and utter dependence upon TPTB, and one more way to track us. Look at all of the liberties we lost with USA Patriot Act. I realize there was a horrible calamity on September 11, 2001, but did we right any of the injustice by giving up liberty? I just think we have lost so much over security and safety, and I don't feel a bit more secure or safe. Then today, when I read a woman called 911 because McDonald's didn't have any mc'nuggets but wouldn't give her a refund, I decided, we are simply too dependent all together, and have no idea what a real emergency is. We are becoming a people that give up everything to have the illusion of safety and we are a people that complain over the least discomfort, and expect someone to fix it. And I love the fact that the police will respond to give a ticket, but it's getting rather difficult to get them to pursue thieves and vandals.
I would give up many conveniences for some true freedom and even a bit of so called safety and security, for liberty.
Therefore thus saith YHVH; Ye have not hearkened unto Me, in proclaiming liberty . . . A Prophet of Holy Scripture

I Think I'm Understand the Change, Now

First, there are more walking in lock step on the left than there ultimately were on the right. That's change! This new stimulus package is truly different from the one President Bush designed, and here are just a couple of differences. Each person working will receive an extra $12.00 on his paycheck, due to less withholding. Isn't that lovely, but I'm guessing the 1040's to be filed next year will not have changed, so anyone that didn't get at least a $400.00 refund on an individual return or $800.00 married, filing jointly, just may find themselves owing money. And what about the $250,000.00 income to define wealthy, regarding taxes being raised. I heard this morning, it's $75,000.00 for an individual and $150,000.00 for a married couple. Wow! A President whose campaign rhetoric was redefined after inauguration. Is this bold change or what! I remember one that said, "Read my lips" regarding taxes and sure enough, when he chose differently, it cost him the next election. Please keep that in mind, President Obama. Or, maybe we the people should keep that in mind. We seem to forget quickly, especially those on the extremes of either party. Now, here are some interesting facts as well. Those on unemployment will get a $25.00 a week raise, which is twice as much as those working. And the first $2400.00 of unemployment is tax exempt. It's beginning to look like those without employment may end up money ahead of those working. And those aspiring for success may realize, they need to set their sites lower, monetarily, to actually succeed. There was something about government employee pensions, but I didn't catch that particular promise. That's right, those promises will remain at least for a time, because according to our new President, he plans to hire on 3 to 4 more million government employees, to repair the infrastructure. Stimulus schimulus, everything is about to be redefined, right before our very eyes. I sure hope those open-minded lock step left supporters, see it before the faithful followers of the last administration.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. a Proverb of Holy Scripture

The Cabinet is Just About Built

I read today that Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius, has been tapped for HHS. This has me now, further into a theory. I don't think it's conspiranoid thinking, but I do think the agenda is being built, and I honestly have no idea who is a willing participant and who is an ignorant one, but the politicians are participating, none the less. Immediately when I read the headline about her probable appointment, the next line inferred that the abortion issue is about to become front and center, AGAIN! Now, I've been watching this mess go back and forth for over 30 years. Every time there is something big in the works being orchestrated behind the scenes, the politicians throw this controversy of life, out before the people. It's the biggy that nobody is going to do anything about, but it gets the people going! It's the most personal and passionate, political controversy in America. I've heard all sorts of outrageous arguments, both ways. I've heard the pro-choice people say it's the woman's body, and that may well be, but then when they start the extra terms between fertilized egg and baby, then I just turn it off. If it's a fertilized human egg in the womb, and it's splitting and growing, I don't care what terms someone introduces, it is a living organism, and to actively stop the growth, is to kill it. I'm not talking about the science projects in a petri dish in some fertility clinic, but genuinely conceived eggs in the womb. I've even heard pro-lifers say the social security system would be solvent, if it weren't for the abortions reducing the work force and tax payers. Granted, that is such a heart-warming self-less defense of life, but considering the unemployment rates right now, I'm not sure that no abortion would have saved social security. You know, if we just outlawed doctors, there would be no abortion, the years of collecting social security would not last so long, and there would be no medicare . . . just a thought. That's the politician that will get my vote!
Back to Kathleen. I'm thinking she'll get things stirred, she seems to take every opportunity to raise controversy. And as for Obama, his sweeping change turns out to just be giving more of the same, only it's more expensive. So, my thought for bigness in the works behind the scenes, once again builds on my theory that the politicians in both parties are really puppets of TPTB. So, my theory is, as Rush has now taken to the screen to organize the Republicans, and Obama will never gain bipartisan cooperation, and regardless of his cries that it didn't start on his watch, it will collapse on his watch, and we the people will be either crushed or be starting all over. This is the very reason the Republicans walked around picking their noses and scratchin' their behinds through the '08 campaign. They didn't want this term in office. Kathleen is just the girl to keep the political ping pong game going while the shell game gets more organized. Round and round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows.

Welcome to Brave New World, And It's Already Broke

Apparently, Citigroup is still too big to fail, but not so savvy, as to actually be able to conduct business. This is reminding me of the old saying, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." And we the people get to catch them! So, the government is aiming for what 35 or 40 percent ownership. That's getting just a bit too invested for my taste. Not to mention, we the people are supposed to be the ones that determine what the government is doing. Isn't it great that the republicans a few years ago, harped and harangued about the difference between a republic and a democracy and the US is a republic, which is a representative form of government. That means the people in a republic elect people to make the decisions. In a democracy, the decisions are made by the majority of the people. Which is not referred to as "mob rule." See how the insistence to nitpick and split hairs has worked out now! So now that we tax payers are part owner of Citigroup, what gives? It's about to hit the value of dollar stock anyway. I would really like our government to stop investing in losing propositions, and there have been a list of them.
I like this latest Pontius Pilate President. He says no mileage tax, but Congress, his own party, is going to go ahead and draw up some sort of proposal. Are you ready for this big idea and the reason behind it? With vehicles with better gas mileage as required from the Big Three, the fuel tax being collected is not as large a sum as is needed, so now it's time to tax the drivers by the mile, or that's the latest brain storm out of Washington. We all would have GPS technology installed in our vehicles and then simply be taxed for our mileage. This concept isn't even thinly veiled, it's in our face, containment and tracking. Enough, all ready. The US government actually appears to now be openly aspiring to the full title of Big Brother. Track our money, track our miles, and record our Walmart purchases.
So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. a Proverb

Fairness Doctrine

I've decided I would truly enjoy and appreciate the Fairness doctrine. The reasons are simple. First, there is Dr. Dean Edell, then there are all those talking heads on both sides of the aisle and the prosperity preachers. The Fairness Doctrine would open the air waves to someone like me to have pretty much a 12 hour show 7 days a week. Of course, there are more than just myself that disagree with the above listed, so, in all fairness, I would be happy to share that time with them. The fairness doctrine offers something that I don't think too many folks have considered. Oh, I know the right wing extremists are worried that they will lose some of their precious Rush and Sean time, but clearly in this capitalistic society, these two guys would not have the big, big contracts they recently signed if the powers that be, were going to make them share. Besides, speaking of fairness, Sean doesn't have Alan Colmes any more, so in all fairness, Sean's opinion is still broadcast for the same period of time, without any opposing view . . . After all these years of both sides, how fair is that? See, if there was a fairness doctrine, then those of us who are telling people to give up their dependence, on both sides of the aisle would be guaranteed some air time, also. There are non-socialist, non-capitalistic people out here in this world, and we deserve a voice, also. And these prosperity Christian ministers would have to move over and give the simple itinerant Bible believers equal time. And as for Dr. Dean Edell. I think, most anything he is promoting, I'm against, and anything he argues, I whole heartedly believe in. Wouldn't life be great in my world, if I and the people that believe what I believe, got equal time with these guys?
Why does it seem that the biggest opponents of the Fairness Doctrine simply sound as if they value editorialized information, calling it news, and cannot abide a challenging perspective?
He who pleads his cause first seems right; Until another comes and questions him.

I Just Don't Understand . . .

Political cartoons are outrageous. We are a nation of absolutely no respect for our leaders or a nation with leaders lacking respectability. There have been some pretty questionable comments and cartoons, as of late, and of course Al Sharpton says an apology is not enough. But then, is anything ever enough for Al? He absolutely exemplifies the very thing he claims to be standing against. How many years have we heard that a reference that lumps all blacks in the same mindset is racist, and I whole-heartedly agree with that sentiment. Yet Al Sharpton just continues to speak for all the people of color, with a single voice of so called oneness. I don't think all people of color are the same, why does he? Considering most Americans now believe in evolution, although I don't, the monkey reference would pretty much be a nonracial statement, but offensive, rather, to those that believe in creation. Isn't it about time to realize evolution is a racial slur against the human race? Now, back to the cartoons and commentary in poor taste, and they undoubtedly, are. But I recall a few pictures that went around the internet referencing the previous administration. Where was Al, when this went on? Where was the outrage?

First National Bank to First Nationalized Bank???

As we debate the economy and the solution, I'd like to point out the fact that the United States government should be the last entity to straighten out the banking industry. Our government has not been solvent in, well, ever. Historically, everytime the leader in the government decided more money was needed, taxes were raised. The problem with this plan now is, even if taxes are increased, with the current unemployment situation, there are fewer pay checks being written, thus limiting the sum total for withholding tax. And as someone that has lived frugally within my means since my twenties, I don't really feel as generous as our government appears to. I have no desire to offer a bailout or even have concern for that matter, if a bank or the CEO is failing. I would, however; be happy to teach him how to live more modestly, and I would be willing to do that at no charge, even for the Wall Street types. And I don't really have a great deal of compassion for people who refuse to live within their means and always have an excuse or a request. I, also would be happy to teach them how to live within more modest means. Whether it's begging at the bank, the government, the church, or the local food kitchen, it kind of boils down to the same thing on all levels. People want to live more extravagantly than they can support, and when they finally exhaust all their options, they seem to think the rest of us should take care of them. I don't mind helping, but from the looks of things, throwing more money at the problem isn't helping. A government that is taxing the wage earners, and then promising more than is coming in, clearly indicates printing more money doesn't work and has not worked twice, now. Bankers that were unable to stay solvent, and cannot account for $350B dollars, certainly do not need more money to lose or mishandle. And for those that borrowed more than they could repay and used their homes as collateral for more debt, really don't place the same value that I do, for a roof over their heads, so why is our government going to insist that the rest of us pick up their mortgage debt?
Teaching people from Washington DC to Wall Street to the food pantry how to better manage money and not count on other's money would be the place we really need to start.
If our banks cannot rally, rather than nationalize them, perhaps it just time to find a new system for our commerce and a different way to exchange products and service.
And G~D said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself . . . History contained in Holy Scripture

Finishing a Project

I'm just a little concerned about all this infrastructure remodeling, which is slated to both rebuild the roads and provide jobs for millions of Americans. I'm also a bit unsettled about the fact that, not even 100 days after inauguration, this is already referred to as President Obama's first term. He has big plans for 2013. From what I've seen of his political career, he always has big plans. I read at one site, when he was a little boy in Indonesia, the children were to write a paper about what they wanted to be when they grew up, and amidst "doctor, pilot, etc." Mr. Obama was reported to have written, he wanted to be president. I have no idea if Indonesia had a president as their country's leader, but if he did write it, I find it interesting, since up to that point, he'd spent virtually no time on the mainland of America.
On to the real point of this blog, today, though. As I read his bio, I noticed the odd lengths of time for his terms served and did a bit more digging. First, he served seven years in the Illinois State Senate, resigning to serve in the US Senate, then of course, he resigned from the US Senate to move to the White House. In the middle of one of his state senate terms, he made an unsuccessful bid for the US House of Representatives. I realize he's ambitious, but he also quits before the term is up.
What happens when all the bridges are under construction, and the roads are barreled, our economy tanks, and he gets a better offer somewhere? Who knows, if there is a better position to hold, than President of the US, but if an offer comes along, will he just resign here too? With all this globalization, the North American Pac, and he did campaign in Europe??? Maybe there will be an offer for President of the North American Continent, or even the world. And what will happen? I can see it. Unfinished Bridges, suspended in mid air, half completed, going nowhere. Roads barricaded, blocked, and heavy equipment sitting on what was supposed to be the new shoulder. I realize ambition is a wonderful trait, but so is finishing what you begin, and so far, his bio doesn't indicate that to be one of his many outstanding qualities.
and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished. a Prophet of Holy Scripture

Wall Street to Main Street

This is yet another short blog. Although we have chosen to define the "Great Depression" by men jumping out of windows on Wall Street. Have we considered the number of men that have "shot up" Main Street, over job loss and foreclosures? If our government hadn't opted to bailout Wall Street a few months ago, and now this last stimulus to bail out those that are poverty stricken, is anyone paying any attention to the general working class, formerly known as the middle class? The only way to adjoin the GREED of Wall Street with the never ending NEED of those that want to be on Main Street is to combine them in one of two ways, which I believe is defined as a stimulus bill. One for the Wall Street by a republican president and one for those scrambling to get up to Main Street by a democrat president. Unfortunately, for the working middle class, both bills landed on them, and the working middle class is shrinking. Meanwhile, the men that have been working for the American dream, day in and day out, are making the headlines regularly as they lose their jobs, get served foreclosure notices, and take a gun to their family and themselves. They aren't jumping out of the windows on Wall Street, the government will take care of them, and those on assistance will be tended to, but if we pay attention, we would realize, the working class is, in fact, already experiencing the Great Depression. Losing a job and house today, is really basically the same as losing the farm in 1933.

Mandatory Volunteerism

I knew we would have this interesting dichotomy in the Obama administration, but I had no idea where it would first be introduced. And by first be introduced, I have no doubt, much more mandatory volunteerism will be enacted and legislated. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack has stated that we need country of origin label on the meat. Okay, I think that makes sense, considering how many countries are mad at us and considering the various safety standards set forth in food preparation and preservation. We've watched for how many years as Japan has expected America to jump through hoops to sell beef? I say let the Americans buy beef from American ranchers. Then they wouldn't have to get NAIS and all that mess, but then, perhaps there is just as much pressure here at home for the rancher to have to jump through hoops.
But that is another rant, back to Tom. He says he would like the meat packing industry to comply voluntarily, so he doesn't have to make it mandatory. That sounds mandatory, either way, or simply more businesses on their way out, here in America. If the meat packers don't comply, then there is legislation. When there is legislation, there is expense, and when there is expense, there are some businesses that cannot meet that expense and others that meet that expense, by eliminating some of the payroll. We don't need to import beef, we've got the best ranch land on the planet and if someone in another country would like some beef, they can ask nicely and quit making so many demands. And if we don't meet their requirements and there are no international requests, then we'll just raise beef according to American demand and knock off all this regulatory nonsense. It's all this regulation that's just about got me ready to give up on beef, certainly not the rancher and the meat packers. Wouldn't it be so much simpler to just stop the importing and exporting and eat home grown beef here at home? And maybe if we could just begin by taking care of our own responsibilities, there wouldn't be so much need for mandatory volunteerism. Wow! Imagine, the opportunity to just do the right thing because a person wanted to just do the right thing . . .

More Economic Stimuli !!!

Well we have yet another stimulus bill. I realize those on the red side of the aisle will always remember this day in history as the day President Obama ruined the American economy and crushed the middle class. Well, I remember just five short months ago, President Bush signed a very similar bill, only it made the Wall Street Executives, welfare recipients. What no one seems to understand, is the fact that America is combining the worst of Fascism and Socialism in less than 5 months, and there will be no recovery from that! We are literally sealing our fate with money "hot off the presses." Making paper that resembles a gold or silver certificate of days gone by, does not strengthen the economy, it actually weakens it. As I read the headlines, I have to say. The USA Patriot Act did not make me feel more safe, and the two recent Economic Stimulus Bills have certainly not made me feel financially secure. I'm just sorry for all the people that bought into the HOPE and CHANGE mantra of the Obama campaign. Turns out, it was simply more of the same.
What was the reason for the signing of this bill in Denver? Was there any reason, other than Air Force One is "one spiffy ride?"

Some Interesting Similarities

I must say this CHANGE seems so familiar. It's almost deja vu. I seem to remember nearly 9 years ago, that the president at that time truly rallied the base against him, and that animosity propelled the other party into the White House. Fast forward to, well, the campaign was much longer and completely more expensive, but the dissatisfaction with the administration also gave way to the recent election of the other party, and with that we now have many of the same faces back in leadership, that were there over 8 years ago. I think what is really standing out to me, is the base of constituents of both of these men. I mean the die hard, forever faithful base that believe whatever either of these men do, is nearly hallowed. Of course, it's a different group of people for each of these men, but the loyalty is amazingly similar. And the ease and style in which these men reached for the acquisition of total power, bears many of the same characteristics. Three weeks after President Obama took office, he began his tough scare tactics to bully Congress into signing his blank check . . . and it worked. Remember three weeks after 9/11 and the USAPatriot Act? We're all still living with the myriad of complications written in that mess, not to mention the continual erosion of our rights and privacy. I just can't help but wonder what all is wrapped neatly in the economic stimulus bill that is to be signed this week, and how long we will continue to be discovering the actual far reaching consequences. Realizing between Directive 51, HR 645, and some Military Commission Act of 2006, all of which can and will be enforced at the whim and power of FEMA. FEMA, the Federal Execution of Martial law & Acquisition. Another gift of the USA Patriot Act, that will continue to give and will take over at any time. I'm not sure it's a good idea that any leader in our country can make decisions of such long lasting consequences while they are obviously overwrought with the fear they are espousing, that is if they actually believe what they are telling us. Whether it's terrorists or economic collapse, I think our leaders just like fearful followers. Perhaps fear inspires blind faith . . .

Big Government and Bankruptcy

Now, as our economy gets more political and the greed defies explanation, we can clearly see it's a downward spiral and the landing will be a thud. There are a couple of key issues I read about today, that were apparent before the change of command. First, the BailOut a.k.a. TARP, was a ruse, and for the most part everyone but the faithful few, could see that. It was nothing more than a bunch of executives getting bonuses to have done a lousy job. Then they attempted to explain away our lack of understand of the term bonus, as more of a commission. Well if someone earned a $22M commission, I would think that company would be sitting pretty, especially since these guys are only selling; paper, air, and ideas . . . There is no wholesale investment, but I digress. On to the banks, who took their money and sat on it, or spent it to acquire another bank, but when they got their taxpayer loan, the last thing they were going to do was loan anything to we the common taxpayer. Then there were the car guys, who have never in all the years of car making, made a substantial profit from January through March. People don't, as a rule, enjoy car shopping in the snow and cold, and money is tight after the holidays and before tax refunds, so . . . When these CEOs agreed to pay back an outrageous sum of money in 90 days from December-something, I knew that had all the earmarks of bankruptcy. What I didn't think about, was that the government was now a stockholder and therefore could actually push the plan of bankruptcy, then turn around and have their TARP buddies, the first in line to collect. Remember when supposedly somebody was watching out for the taxpayers interest? Now we're just watching them throw monopoly money back and forth. And now there are even bigger plans in the works. Now that the Secretary of the Treasury knows he can just print kajillions of dollars and because he's the government, it's legal, there's no end to the potential plans. So there are plans for the private sector, [a.k.a. the big boys that are too big to fail], to invest, with some government backing, in the bad debt of the banks, along with, of course, we the foreclosed upon taxpayers, a.k.a. public sector. I'm not an accountant, but I think I have this straight. Congress, got their raise in January and the lobbyists are still doing well. The biggest banks that got the biggest portion of the TARP will now get a half trillion dollar "investment" by the private sector, plus the rest of the government bailout TARP, to clear their books of the bad loans. Anyway, you figure this, if the government backs any part of this, it's at the taxpayers expense. They don't have to account for all the money they've already received or why they are not loaning any money. They can just clear the bad debt, that they have been collecting on, until they foreclosed, and hey, they can have some more money, too! And if that's not enough, there's always the "public sector" a.k.a. taxes. My grandson is not yet seven, and this won't be paid off in his lifetime, that is, if there is even an American currency by the time he's an adult.
I have an idea. I think it's time to treat government like any other business that is failing and having money management problems. We need to realize, the American government is in the business of manufacturing expenses! Certainly not a product needed at a time like this! It's time to start handing out pink slips and cutting costs. This is a recession, after all!

Clearly Time and Money Mean Nothing

And some say "time is money!" I've been reading about the Spendulus Bill, as this one is called by Republicans. Funny, it wasn't called that when President Bush implemented a similar amount to go to the big boys on Wall Street and the banks. As you know, I am no great fan of President Bush, except, I want him to entertain at my next barbecue. But his punctuality is admirable, to a point. I think his punctuality was fraught with a bit of pressure, but that's just my opinion. I think anyone's timing that puts pressure on others is just a little stressful, but I do have more respect for someone that is punctual than someone that is perpetually late. And I have about the same opinion for someone who is generous with other people's money, or men that throw money around, while their wife just stands there, completely disregarded. Which brings me to our current President. Someone that is perpetually late has an issue. I know, because in some areas, I qualify for this label, and in the areas I don't qualify, I married someone that does. Perpetually late means one of three things. 1. Lack of organization. 2. The appointment is not a priority or commitment. 3. Arrogance. We all know someone that thinks the world is waiting on them and nothing can happen until they arrive. Whether it is a date or a President . . . I think those of us that do respect other's time should be headed out the door, as they are finally making their entrance. My times of being late were a clear indication that the particular obligation was not a priority in my life. It bordered on procrastination, which is truly not my style, and ultimately resulted in putting in an appearance. It was not acceptable behavior on my part, and is clearly not acceptable for the President of the United States. And so for those committees and civil gatherings that I dreaded and truly did not care about, I respectfully resigned from participation. Public service is not mandatory at this time, although I hear our President is leaning toward something in that direction. I hope he realizes the rest of us will be keeping Obama time for our volunteer hours. I have watched a number of men throw money at situations and think they are investing in respect. Well, I've seen it get none from the receiver, and quite grand disrespect from the joint account holder. It would be terribly inappropriate to declare aloud, "What an idiot!" I could think it, however; and did, on several occasions throughout my life. I really was hoping for more in our President, than a man that would put in a casual appearance when he got around to it, and to scare us into giving more money to our government, which will ultimately give Activist Administrators and Infrastructure Contractors the same cushion or parachute, President Bush gave the Wall Street CEOs.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded . . . New Testament

More Scare Tactics

Just more NO change. I do not like being told we have everything to fear, all the time from our leader in Washington. Clearly it makes no difference which side of the aisle or how hopeful the former candidate is, it would appear that whomever wins the office is going to use fear tactics to push through an agenda. I don't like it, not one little bit. I know, if someone doesn't vote, they aren't supposed to complain, but honestly if there had been a viable choice, perhaps I would have. At any rate, after writing in for the past several elections, I still complained and I shall again. I will not let this slide, now, not after complaining about all of the fear tactics the previous administration used, to get "we the people" to knuckle under. I do have two thoughts for all the politicians. If the economic problem is so bad that it takes two nearly trillion dollar stimulus plans within 4 months, it's clearly sinking faster than the US mint's printing press can run. Which brings me to the other point. If printing former President's faces and famous statesman on paper actually provides the solution, it really isn't much of a problem, now is it . . . Either way, if we're going down for the count, printing extra paper won't help, and if the powers that be are simply trying to push an agenda of ruthless power, then the help that's being forced upon us, isn't really help.
Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy G~D: for I am YHVH your G~D. Torah of Holy Scripture

Sibling Business

I find it rather curious that George Obama's arrest in Kenya is supposed to somehow be tied to President Obama. Clearly both men are of legal age, not to mention on entirely different continents. Family dirt has become a real source of mud to sling through political campaigns and I just don't understand it. All right, if it's the politician's kids that are pulling shenanigans, that's a different matter, because the kids are a product of their parent's instruction and example, but siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles . . . get real. People make their own choices. Besides, I think legislating a plant created by our Creator, is just pretty arrogant on the part of any lawmaker. Usurping authority over our Creator . . . I wouldn't want to be in their shoes, come Judgment Day. I also find it odd that it's a big deal that George had pot in Kenya, and Barrack wrote in his book about doing cocaine, which is clearly illegal. Looks to me like George is just in the wrong country. I understand now how American is the land of opportunity.
Busted with pot in Kenya can get you in the headlines. Writing about doing cocaine in America can get you in the White House.

Beyond Chutzpah!

Aren't you getting just a little bit tired of all the special events, we the people are funding and reading about? I know I am. And what about all these would be appointments for government positions that can't manage to pay their taxes? Can you imagine telling a governmental bureaucrat from the IRS, "Oops, it was an oversight." It looks like President Obama has as thorough a vetting team for Cabinet Posts as John McCain had for VP. The government has access to my Google Searches, come on, don't tell me, they can't find out who paid their taxes and who doesn't know the difference between gifts and favors and income. But then, on the other hand, as long as it's the favored party of choice, the people will rally, anyway. The far right still loves Sarah, and the President hasn't hurt himself with his loyal followers.
And let's talk about these banks and mortgage lenders, partying on our money. I think it's always amazing that when they get caught partying, that the party money was not part of the BailOut. You know, if you've got the money set aside to party, you grow up and pay your bills, before or instead of the party. One of them actually had the audacity to say they had to do this for their investors. Hey folks, I didn't get an invitation, and thanks to the TARP, I am now an investor. I heard the most outrageous excuse the other morning. It was explained by some Wall Street Muckity-muck that the bonuses weren't really what we understand a bonus to be, they were actually more like commissions. Well Mr. Wall Street Muckity-muck, if you have employees selling enough of whatever you sell to earn a several million dollar commission, which is only a percentage of the actual sale, why in the world do you need a BailOut? Now you guys are doing just what VP Cheney used to do. Pour a bucket of water on our heads and tell us it's raining. Back up! Can you imagine if we average citizens tried all these con jobs, somewhere, anywhere? Didn't Martha go to jail for a lot less? These high rollers, compare in my mind, to somebody calling the phone company and said, I just can't pay all the 900 numbers I dialed this month, but when I get back from my Mediterranean cruise, I'll give you a call and we'll set up some sort of installment plan. I think we all know what would happen to the phone service, and I'm sure they would be seeing someone in court. This is an outrage! We need to fire all the politicians, there should be no career politicians and the ones that promise change are just making me tired. I'm tired of change and mavericks and blah, blah, blah, you betcha. If the banks can't do any better than this, go back to the barter system. With the barter system, we can all live like politicians and not have to worry about those pesky taxes.

It Really Just Depends Upon Who Gets the Money . . .

I received some "Bible vote" e-mails from a religious insurance agent, before the National Election. I had a real problem with his messages for three reasons. One, I don't know where elections are mentioned in Scripture. Two, I don't know where insurance and faith are compatible, other than what is legally required, and the third problem I had was the huge AIG banner at the close of his correspondence. I sent him a reply and mentioned something about our hard earned money going to AIG BailOut/Retreat/Bonuses; and I like to think I influenced the removal of the banner. I don't know, though. At any rate, I also informed him that his attempt to politically influence me, by claiming religious authority was unappreciated and unnecessary. The correspondence stopped for awhile, but yesterday one appeared again. I've decided to go ahead and post just a bit of a previous one and the recent one. I was tempted to use his full name and give his business info, but I thought better of that idea. So Mark, I'm getting that information passed along, just like you asked in your e-mails!
Obviously, this is one of several that came prior to the National Election.
Topic Vote the Bible!!
We are not talking as the Democratic Party, The Republican Party, Green Party, Independent Party, or the Pity Party. Wake Up and Know that: . . .
Be Certain to Vote, but be sure to “Vote The Bible”!

Now Yesterday, I received this from the same guy.

Billions of your tax dollars in possible subsidies for ACORN? $50 million for the National Endowment of the Arts? Billions of dollars more for other liberal pet projects?
What exactly are our elected leaders doing? On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted largely along party lines to pass the so-called "Obama stimulus bill."
But the only thing the bill will stimulate is BIG GOVERNMENT. It does very little to accomplish its stated purpose, which is to create jobs and stimulate the struggling economy . . .
And what exactly is in this so-called stimulus bill?
$1.1 billion for Amtrak;
$50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts;
$400 million for NASA to conduct climate change research;
$300 million for Americorps;
$1 billion for the Census;
$400 million for localities to buy “green” buses;
$650 million for the Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Program;
$600 million for the acquisition of “green” cars;
$7.7 billion for the Federal Buildings Fund; . . .

Rather than attempting to grow government, this RSC sponsored legislation attempts to remove government from the equation and give the free market a much needed boost.
Some of the provisions of the RSC legislation include:
A 5% across the board reduction in individual income taxes.
Increasing the Child Tax Credit from $1,000 to $5,000 per year.
Making permanent the 15% tax rate on capital gains and dividends.
Repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax on individuals.
Making all withdrawals from IRAs tax- and penalty-free during 2009.
Increasing tax deductions for student loans and other education expenses.

My question is two fold. I realize there is more on the agenda than mentioned above, but the list presented for the proposed spending according to my calculations is only a fraction of what was given to the banking industry and big business such as AIG. My other observation. Why didn't "the right guys" offer the solution listed above, just a few months ago, rather than give banking and big business over $700B, to spend as they pleased?

Maybe it's time for the truly discerning to see that true concern for the taxpaying citizens doesn't rest on either side of the aisle, and above all, perhaps we should stop throwing G~D's Word around for political influence. Our government is an out of control, insatiable beast.
. . . insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. New Testament

Same Ol', Same Ol'

I realize we were told there would be change. Change was coming! But the reality is, the headlines all sound the same this week that they did last month, and the month before that, and the month before that. Of course campaign promises always do have an exclusionary alternative clause built into them, but I'm amazed at the speed in which we are getting to hear so much re-explained. In a couple of months, someone will look through this stimulus bill, just like the last one, and the Patriot Act before that and realize, Whoa!!! We've got a ton of laws on the books now, that nobody mentioned were there. Please . . .

Now They've Really Gone and Done It!

To Whom It May Concern:
I'm really mad at the Democratic Party right now. As you know, I am neither Republican nor Democrat, but I used to be a Democrat, so I still take their stupidity a bit more personally than the stupidity of the Republicans. Not that either side of the aisle is in short supply of stupid, but the Dems are really pushing it right now. First, our New President told Congress they needed to stop listening to Rush to get things done! Way to go BO! Now you have given Rush the same ammo he had in dealing with Clinton. President Obama, you were kind of safely off limits, as a black man, until you went and did this. Now the comedians and the pundits can have a great time and, of course, Rush, who is "earning" way more than the office of President pays, will reap the benefit. Again, Way to go, BO!
And Congress, you need to be busy about something like the economy or job losses or something, actually anything besides some stupid, yes stupid, online petition. That is just childish and did I mention stupid! Let me explain this. Rush Limbaugh is a very boisterous, opinionated, talking head. And just like the followers of the new President, his listening audience pretty much think he also walks on water. It amounts to nothing more than that, until you people make a point of making him someone to be reckoned with. Big mistake! And now, in all my years of reading news and listening to radio, Congress and President Obama have made me see that Rush Limbaugh is just doing "his job," so wish I y'all would do yours.
Thank you so much for your time and attention in this matter.
The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness. a Proverb of Holy Scripture
