Exporting, Importing, and Immigration

Remember when America invaded Iraq and the comment was made that we were exporting democracy?   Ideology really doesn't import or export, but it does arrive through immigration.

I read an interesting article about a man who has brought his family to take refuge in America from Iraq.  I believe in 2006 or 2007 we were slated to receive 7000 Iraqis from their war torn country.  I am glad these people can live in peace, now, but as I read the article about the cameraman, several thoughts came to mind.

Since this is my a-political place of expression, I did notice a few things in the 8 minute video and the article that accompanied it.  Although the man spoke very well of this opportunity to be safe, his sorrow for having to give up his home was very evident.   Before his country was invaded, he had enjoyed a very respected position as a cameraman for media, as did his brother.  His first job in America was at Tyson, and now he's a custodian for the school.  He still hopes of returning to the career for which he studied and was respected for his excellence.

The video did mention, that the family has been able to return to Baghdad, once, and he feels it's even more unsafe and unstable than it was when he left.  He was able to seek refuge here, because his life was threatened and his brother was killed by militias that raised up in violent power after the death of Saddam Hussein.

There were many images of his wife and their devotion to Islam appeared apparent.  They now have twin daughters who were born here and are American citizens and their mother very proudly said they will be able to vote and maybe even be president.  The Muslim population has more than doubled, nearing triple increase in America since the Iraq invasion, and most of the increase has been from immigration, legal mind you, but immigration.

Islam will expand, in America because it is prophesied that Abraham's descendants would be under his covenant blessing.  Isaac was the son of promise, but as the son of Abraham, Ishmael was blessed, also.  We, Americans, seem too often to forget that Genesis 12:3 was spoken directly to Abraham before any sons were born, and Genesis 16:12, confirmed that the descendants of Ishmael would be numerous, and cover a lot of ground.

It is my opinion that President Obama has been given entirely too much credit for bringing Islam to this nation.  It was spoken by YHWH in Genesis 15:5, that Abraham's descendants would be as numerous as the stars and sand, also before either son was born.  This is truly a bigger situation than we realize!   I suggest, if we're going to claim a Biblical perspective on this, we should probably check the order of what has been stated.

I've included the link for the article and video, as well as passages from Torah.

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.  Genesis 12:3

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.  Genesis 15:5

And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.  Genesis 16:12

And Elohim said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.  And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.  Genesis 21:12-13

There's a lot of wisdom we miss in the details of Torah...
Maybe a recipe for healing in there, but it would take a LOT to make it happen. More than visualizing whirled peas.
